Episode Transcript
[00:00:00] Speaker A: What up? What up? What up? What's going on? Welcome back to the Bad Podcast. Brad and Duane in here. Another episode coming to you live. Well, we're not live, but we're coming to you whenever you're playing. This is live in your living room, man. Super excited, Brad. What we talking about today, my brother?
[00:00:16] Speaker B: Live. Ish.
Calm seasons build leaves, storms build roots.
[00:00:25] Speaker A: That's deep, brother. Let's get it.
[00:00:30] Speaker B: Are you ready? Are you ready?
[00:00:46] Speaker A: Would it be like, what it looked like, what it do, man? Back in here, man. I am excited to come to you guys, man. I always love hearing from you guys. And, you know, Brad, we did the live episode that time, and. And that, you know, people was like, man, where the podcast at on a Monday? I was getting messages, man. So that. That made me feel good. Shout out to those folks that reached out.
But we back in the saddle, man.
We got what? This is the Monday. This is 22nd when this drop. So we got one more Monday before New Year, man. So how you feeling, Brad? How you feeling going into another.
[00:01:25] Speaker B: Another year with complete transparency? I'm tired.
I'm beat up, torn, and tattered. But, you know, going into 2026, I got huge aspirations with this bike ride, big dreams.
I am looking forward to it being over with.
I will still do some philanthropy things, but I will not.
I will not punish my body and my mind as much as I am right now, but looking forward to the ride, Looking forward to, you know, how much money we can raise and how much awareness we can raise, how many shoes we can collect, but definitely looking forward to that Monday after my final day. So, yeah, it's been good. 2026 looks promising. But how you feeling? How you feeling about going into the new year?
[00:02:06] Speaker A: So I feel good, man. I am tired as well. While we're recording this, it's been. It's been one of those weeks, man. But 2026, for me, I'm excited because I'm. I'm taking. I'm taking the whole year to try to develop without getting fat. That is my goal. Like, I want to add some mass, but. But stay lean. And I'm. Bro, I'm proud of myself, bro. I've been. I've been locked in. I've been, you know. You know, still counting my macros and, like, you know, I always do a little ab check on my socials. Still got ass. That's what I'm telling. That's the sound like when the apps start fading. Oh, let me tighten up.
[00:02:48] Speaker B: But.
[00:02:48] Speaker A: So for 2026, is it's gonna be a year of a development, man. I really want to, like, lock in the lab and.
And. And grow, man. And I. I know we got a topic, but before we jump into that topic, I told you I've been using chat gbt, you know, with my. My workouts and stuff. And it did something interesting today. Brad and I. I ain't even tell you this before we started, so what I've been doing, and you guys can steal this. There's no secret is when I do a rep or a set, I tell it the weight and how it felt. And so today I had a little bit of twitch in my knee, and I was like, hey, that. That hack squat kind of felt, you know, funny in my knee.
And if it was left up to me, I. I come from old school. Oh, just grind through it, you know, Just keep going.
[00:03:36] Speaker B: And.
[00:03:36] Speaker A: And Chad was like, yo, let's stop this and let's find something that doesn't do that. Because even I remember when. Even Eric was like, when I told him I had a little something, he was like, you know, do something else. But in my mind, I was like, no, I'm not gonna. I'm gonna get better at this.
Sometimes, bro, it, you know, we. We come from old school with the whole pain and game. No, no, no. Sometimes you need to pivot when. When stuff, you know, hit you hard like that, man. I know that's not the topic, but it was fresh, okay?
[00:04:05] Speaker B: It kind of is, brother.
[00:04:06] Speaker A: Connected.
[00:04:07] Speaker B: You know, I can connect the dot when I. When I could, I could see a dot. I will connect it.
[00:04:11] Speaker A: Yes, sir.
[00:04:12] Speaker B: It is, though, because, you know, it's that all or nothing mentality. It's that, you know, pain and game mentality that. I mean, we grew up in the 80s and 90s where, like, that was the only way. I mean, watching football back in the 70s, 80s and 90s, like, people were. People were decapitated, hating others.
It was a different time. But, you know, that all or nothing thinking or that all or nothing mindset way of a way of life is. Is the shallow roots, right? And you look at something and shallow roots look fine until the wind blows.
[00:04:44] Speaker A: Yeah, right.
[00:04:44] Speaker B: Shallow, Shallow roots look great until the wind blows.
And. And you're. You're. This is a prime example, and I'm glad you brought this up, because we can connect with that. So, you know, instead of embracing the all or nothing mentality, you brace the all or something mentality that's preaches time and time again.
You know, it's the same concept of chasing Intensity every single day. You don't need to, you know, have these intense workouts every single day. You just need to create that consistency. And we've talked about this many of times, but honestly, like, your regimen, anybody's regimen doesn't necessarily matter. Like, everybody that's in the physique world or the running world or the cycling world or the fitness world in. In general is. Is doing something different. Like, not everybody's doing the same thing.
[00:05:30] Speaker A: Right.
[00:05:31] Speaker B: A lot of folks are still getting results. Why? Because it's the strong roots. Right. It's the consistency, it's the routines, it's the intention.
[00:05:42] Speaker A: Good job, brother. That's how you connected.
[00:05:45] Speaker B: Yeah, man. Yes.
Yeah.
[00:05:49] Speaker A: No, just to jump in that. That is so on point because, you know, like you said, nobody. Everybody's not doing the same workout, but we're all doing a workout and we, you know, when the guys, Everybody on stage has their own work, nobody's doing the exact same thing. Everybody looks good. You know, the. The workout that works is the one that you work.
That's a T shirt.
[00:06:18] Speaker B: Write that down. Write that down. Everybody, write that down.
[00:06:21] Speaker A: Yes, sir. The workout that works is the one that you work, man. Whatever you decide to do, and this is a great message going into the new year, whatever you decide to do, you lock into it and that thing will work, you know, because I. I even related back to always joke how I did P30X. I didn't do P90. I stopped at the 30 days, but I saw results those 30 days. So whatever, you know, and even with E2M, E2M Fitness, E2M Premium, whatever you decide to do, if you stick with it, that consistency, like Brad said, you stick with that consistency is going to work, man. And that's how you dig deeper roots is that consistently. Look, look at me trying to connect that.
[00:07:00] Speaker B: Now, that's several connect dots, all within what, five minutes of the podcast.
Oh, I love.
Really is, man. And, you know, going into the holidays, you know, this is one of those hypothetical storms where, you know, we had consistent habits leading up to. So for me, it's. It's. It's back to back to back, back. And same for you. Like, so for me, it's Thanksgiving, my birthday, Christmas, New Year's, like four right there. And for you, same. Same thing. Your birthday is just on the other side of New Year's.
[00:07:31] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:07:32] Speaker B: You know, you go into these holidays or you go into these celebrations, and they are. They are storms.
And the bigger the storm and the more discipline and patience and humility that you can have on those. Those big celebration days or those big holidays.
[00:07:50] Speaker A: They.
[00:07:50] Speaker B: They force you to dig or dig deeper roots. They force you to grow a little bit because you don't grow on the days that are calm. You know, it's just like a tree. Like a. A day that's calm. A tree's not gonna, you know, hunker down and establish deeper roots. It's gonna. It's just gonna be content. It's gonna be complacent, kind of on autopilot like a lot of people in the world, you know, and that's. That's something that's frustrating in our line of work, Dwayne. You know, It's.
I'll preach E2M for the. For the rest of my life because we've seen so many great results.
But it's. It's. It's a conversation that's continuing to happen. Like, hey, what happens after E2M? What do you talk. What. What are you talking about? What are you talking about? Like, what do you mean after E2M? You. You stay consistent in that. In that. In that intentional storm. Like, E2M can be a storm for you.
[00:08:43] Speaker A: And.
[00:08:43] Speaker B: And. And not all storms are bad. Storms are good because storms, you know, here's. Here's where I want to. Here's what I want to talk about. I mentioned in the beginning the calm.
The calm seasons build leaves, right? What happens? The leaves, they. They. They crumble, they fall, they die, right?
I mean, that's. That's what happens when. When we're on autopilot, right? But to live a long, fulfilling life that you'd be proud of, you need to intentionally create those storms. And for E2M, that was the storm for a lot of people. People struggled with E2M. People, you know, they'd sweat. For the first time in 20 years, they'd be out of breath. For the first time in 20 years, they would eat me, You, Mandy, Whit, Alicia, Jeff. Like, they would hate us temporarily because it was difficult, but it's. It's with adversity. It's with, you know, it's with going against the grain that. That creates those deep roots. And, you know, sometimes you just gotta fight for what you want in your life. And when you fight for what you want in life, you know, you can look back with. With pride and with satisfaction and just a sense of accomplishment. And I think that's, you know, something that we all have to take a. Take note of is, you know, I talk about the three versions of I, but To look back at the past past or look back at who I was or all of us and just appreciate the growth of our own roots and the growth of our fitness or relationships or profession or whatever, and just appreciate how far we've come. So appreciate how far you've come and, and, and enjoy, like, where you're at today because this season of life is important. It's going to teach you a lot about, you know, the journey and, you know, embracing those hard seasons. Like, like Christmas. I get it.
[00:10:31] Speaker A: It's.
[00:10:31] Speaker B: It's difficult to get through the holidays, but you can do it. You can absolutely do it. Yep.
[00:10:36] Speaker A: Absolutely, man. Yeah. No, that's, that's, that's good, man. You know, the, the thing that, that you brought, that you brought up, you know, as far as, like, you know, the difficult. Putting yourself through difficult moments.
I think it was a meme or something. You know, it said when you lift, you know, when you put yourself under stress, when you lift, when hard and heavy first thing in the morning, you, you set your body in a place where no matter what comes, you're already, you know, you've already pretty much tortured yourself. Like, there's nothing nobody else can do to, you know, to, to upset the, to upset the apple cart, you know, there's nothing nobody else could do that can, can just throw you off because you've already, like, endured something, something tough you put. You know, whether it's strength training, endurance training, whatever it is, you set the tone.
Also, you know, we talk about the roots growing when it comes to gaining any, anything, whether it's strength, you know, endurance, whatever, in order to progress, you have to really, like, take yourself to failure. Like, muscles grow in failure, you know?
You know, whenever you, we try and get your wind up, you gotta, you gotta push it, gas it till you can't go. And that's how next time you can go a little bit more, A little bit more. And it's just amazing how that works, you know, Brad, like, like, I wonder, like, why God didn't create us in a way where we could, you know, kick our feet up and get stronger or, you know, you know what I'm saying? Like, just chill and get stronger. And then, you know, I always, always joke about this. I wish there was a sustained pedal for fitness. Like, once I hit a level, I wish I could just hit a button and just stay there without having to. You know what I mean? But it's not like that. But, but that's the thing, man, what you do now, this is, this is the, the Monday, before, you know, Christmas, you know, Christmas is coming. What do you need to do now? You need to prepare. You need to have a plan, have a game plan, whether, you know, how you're going to handle meals, how you're going to handle those gingerbread houses and, and all of those snacks, you know, and not saying you can't have those things. Just a matter of preparing and having a mindset. Don't go in there blindly. You'll be surprised when you go in with the plan, when you don't go in blindly how much better off you'll be.
Your body will thank you, thank you. And then you'll be like, man, I used to go go crazy. Because I know.
I just think back when I. I was just mindlessly like, I'm a walker and an eater. Like, I walk around the house and eat all day if you let me. And, you know, I mean, and so if you just. Just sit back and think about, you know, the old habits you had and be like, yo, I'm. I'm not that person anymore, and I wanna. I wanna do better this year. I'm gonna have a plan. And. And I always got to bring this aspect of it, too. If you do go crazy on Christmas, it's not the end of the world. It's just one day. Just like one day of eating clean food when you were unhealthy didn't make you healthy. One day eating bad food while you're healthy don't make you unhealthy. So keep that in mind. Give yourself some grace. But.
But, you know, like I said, the storm's gonna come, but all the things you've done up until this point and all the way into is what's going to give you those deeper roots and those continued patterns to continue to, you know, keep going in your journey.
[00:14:01] Speaker B: You said it. You took the words right out of my mouth. Storms are temporary, man. Storms. Yeah, they come and they go.
One bad day isn't going to define you. One bad day is not gonna write your. Your story. One bad day is not going to do. Undo years of consistency. The roots that you're establishing during this time of preparation. This is the time of year where people are like, I'm. I'm gonna start right now on Christmas Day. Really? Oh, okay. Because we do get so into our emotions and so into our feelings, and we feel as if, I gotta harvest right now, I gotta get mine right now. But it's not a season of harvest. It's not a season of goals and, and not a season of you know, accomplishing greatness. It's a season of preparation. You said it, Dwayne. Planning, preparation, like getting yourself into a mindset of, hey, I know I'm gonna have a couple cookies today. I know I'm gonna have a, whatever, you know, I'm gonna have a snack, but with the understanding that I need to bounce back even in the next hour or so. Like, bounce back, be able to bounce back and don't spiral out of control.
You've, you've established that consistency. You've established discipline. Have the cookie, have the cinnamon roll, have the whatever and bounce and be able to bounce back. So, you know, a rule that I always live by is the, is the 369 rule. Like, how is this action or how is this decision going to define me or, or impact me negatively or, or positively in 3, 6, 9 minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, whatever, how is it going to impact me? And that's something that you can always keep in the back of your mind, okay, is this cookie going to be good for me?
He double toothpicks. Yes, but three, six, nine minutes. Three, six, nine hours, three, six, nine days. Like, maybe not. So I'm going to limit some, limit myself. I have the discipline to do that. I'm going to have one cookie. I'm going to enjoy it. And, and that's the thing. Enjoy it.
Don't do it with, with some sort of regret. If you want a cookie, have the cookie and enjoy the heck out of it.
But again, come back, all right, Rebound and tell yourself, hey, I enjoyed that. But now it's time to get back on the track. So these, these storms, Christmas, I don't even like to like link Christmas and storm together. Kind of like, you know, it's, I can't think of the word antagonistic, I guess.
But, you know, it's in these moments that, you know, show us how much we are disciplined or how much we're not disciplined and how much we're able to rebound or how much we're not able to rebound. So, you know, you, you have deep root roots or you're starting to establish deep roots.
These storms, they don't necessarily create weakness, they just expose it.
So if, if you are somebody that finds your hand in the cookie jar over and over and over and over, maybe you just never had that discipline, maybe you never established that consistency. But, you know, the day after Christmas, it's a great day to, you know, commit to yourself and commit to your future and don't devalue, you know, a 20 minute walk. Don't devalue, you know, going for a walk with your kids or just doing a quick minute circuit, you know. And each one Premium is perfect because they're all quick hitters.
That's my plug.
[00:17:34] Speaker A: 15 minutes. The barcode right there. If you're watching on your TV QR code, it takes you right to E2M premium. And you use my code, Dwayne. 50 for 50 off that annual rap.
[00:17:46] Speaker B: 50.
[00:17:46] Speaker A: Yeah, but no, man, that's, that's the thing, you know, premium, 15 minutes. You know, you can find 15 minutes in a day. There's small wins, you know, drinking water before you start, you know, whatever that meal might be. Take a walk when you're done eating all of those small baby steps. You don't have to, you know, get that gym membership and all of that and, you know, be intimidated and go to all the aerobic class. You don't have to do that. You could download that app up there. You know, you can take a walk, you can do the, you can do the things, man. Super simple baby steps. And, and that's, that's what's gonna give you success for sure.
[00:18:28] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:18:29] Speaker A: So go ahead.
[00:18:30] Speaker B: What's your, what's your go to with the, with E2M Premium? What's your, what's your favorite workout in E2M Premium?
[00:18:36] Speaker A: So, for me, I, I mean, you know, one of my favorite attributes and favorite class to teach is the chest, man. I, I like a good, good chest workout.
All the E2 and premium workouts, because they're time under tension, they really get a lot of blood flow and a lot of pump to that area, which makes, makes you look good in a sweat, a sweater, you know.
[00:18:58] Speaker B: Amen to that. I, I always love hitting chest, man. Chest and arms are my two favorite.
Yeah. Chest and arms. But I, I love the cardio fusion. I, I love the cardio part. And then going down to do some strength training, that's always my, my preference. And that's, that's even what I was doing when I was in my 20s, man. I always do a little cardio, then a little streng.
It quits. It's about 30 or 45 minutes. Now. It's. It's 30 minutes. I'm, I'm done.
[00:19:23] Speaker A: Yeah, man. Yeah. And that's the thing. Like, you, you don't have to spend hours and hours.
15 minutes, 20 minutes. 30 minutes and you are done. Like, that's 15 minutes is not even a whole episode of anything. You know, 20 minutes is, is, you know, watching it without commercials. And 30 minutes is watching it with commercials. So. Right. Either way, man, you. You got. You can find that time with each one. Premium, man. It's definitely.
I, I'm, I'm not just saying it because I work here, man. I'm saying it because, like, it's the truth. And. And here's my gauge.
Here's my gauge. You know, one of my favorite podcasts is Mind Pump It. It. It inspired, you know, this podcast, one of my favorite. What are they selling right now, Brad? 15 minute workouts. They literally just started selling 15 minute workout. Like that lets us. I mean, not saying they're the standard, but they are the number one, you know, one of the number one guys out there, and they have a 15 minute, you know, they call it Maps program. And I was like, yo, they're right. They know that. And, and that's what they talked about in the last episode was what you can accomplish in 15 minutes is enough. There's no. You're not competing for a bodybuilding show. You're not a strong man. Competition.
What you do. 15 minutes can get you in a healthy state where you can feel good about yourself and feel good about your fitness journey, man. So there you go. That's the plug. Each one premium. Dwayne. 50. 50 off. Brad, 50. If you want 50. I think his is like 49.99, so you might want to do mine. Mine is 50 even.
[00:21:05] Speaker B: I thought yours is 49.95.
[00:21:10] Speaker A: But, Brad, man, we get ready to wrap this up, man. What. What's. What you gonna close with?
Oh, so, I mean, they might have to talk about this off air, but we got this. This Monday that they're listening.
[00:21:23] Speaker B: Yep.
[00:21:23] Speaker A: And then there's the 29th.
We still. Okay. All right, so, yeah, we got two more episodes in 2025, and then we're hitting 2026, man, with.
With a bang, for sure.
[00:21:38] Speaker B: Yeah. A little crossover. A little crossover, folks, happy holidays. We will talk to you before New Year's, but again, don't, don't. Don't let Christmas or whatever holiday that you celebrate, don't let that derail you. These storms, they force you to grow if you choose, but these are the storms that you don't always choose, but they're very, very, very, very necessary. So embrace the storm. Stay consistent, stay disciplined. Love you guys.
