[00:00:00] Speaker A: What up, what up, what up? Welcome back to the Bad Podcast. Brad and Wayne. And here, my brother, Brad. Brad, my friend. What we talking about today, brother?
[00:00:08] Speaker B: We're gonna talk dreams and we're gonna talk breakthrough. So this is a little piece out of the brand new Buck. Prep, Prep rep forever. I'm so used to saying prep rep for Pete that I can't even get it out of my head.
The thing is, there's very little if any doubt in a stagnant life because there's no risk. And when they're. When you're not pushing forward anything meaningful, there's nothing for fear to attack.
Once you step on the edge of something greater, doubt immediately shows up. Not to stop you, but to test your willingness to keep going.
[00:00:39] Speaker A: Let's get it.
Are you ready?
[00:00:44] Speaker B: Are you ready?
[00:01:00] Speaker A: What up, what up, what up? We back in here, man. What it looked like, what it be like, what it do. We are in here. Another episode of the Bad Podcast. Brad and Dwayne. And man. So I don't think people realize this, Brad. Like, we literally, we, you know, there's some preparation on Brad part, but a lot of times when I ask him what we talking about, like, that's when I find out.
[00:01:19] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:01:20] Speaker A: Like, it's literally raw conversation, man. And so. And I think a lot of people like that and they enjoy our genuineness, man. We really. We kind of. Because I was listening to last week, man, and we. We kind of taste a couple of rabbits, man. It ended up really good, you know.
[00:01:34] Speaker B: Hey, I like chasing rabbits, because when you start chasing rabbits, you start to uncover things that you normally wouldn't uncover.
[00:01:41] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah, it was definitely off script, man. So big shout out to everybody, man. Showing love, continuing. We always want to make sure we take a moment, man, just to let you guys know how much we appreciate the love and everything, man. But Brad, man, let's get into this topic, man. Let's hit him this Monday with something fresh.
[00:01:58] Speaker B: Yeah. So just to extend that gratitude, I had somebody post and tag us. And they said they went for a run or they went for a walk and just to unplug, they wanted to not listen to music. They wanted to listen to the Bad podcast in the. In the workout enhanced over time because they got a little bit more motivated, a little bit more encouraged. So, folks, that I encourage you post a breakthrough today and tag the one. Tag myself and hashtag bad podcast, all the things. But post a breakthrough. And it doesn't have to be a physical breakthrough. It could be a mental breakthrough. It could be A financial breakthrough, a relationship breakthrough, a professional break breakthrough, some sort of breakthrough you've had in your life. Talk about it and, and post about it. And make sure you tag Duane. Make sure you tag myself. And then use the hashtag bad podcast. Send a Screenshot to contact eagertorun.com and I will, I'll throw you in the mix for this, this month's prep repeat book.
[00:02:57] Speaker A: Good.
[00:02:58] Speaker B: Yeah. And folks, you know, so we're talking about this doubt, this creature of doubt. And, you know, I was talking to a buddy the other day and I, I asked him plain, plain and simple, I said, do you have any fears? He says, not really.
And, and this individual, he is a friend of mine, and I'm not going to knock him, I'm not going to mention his name, but he, he's not one that, you know, is in the pursuit of something grander. He, he likes to sit on his couch, he likes to do the Netflix and chill and, and just like that piece out of the book stated, you know, when you're not trying to level up in life, fear will not find you. You, you're not going to have anything you're afraid of. But once you start to level up and I'm going to use just a profession, a professional career, for example, you know, if you're at the bottom of the barrel, right, and you're just, you're, you're complacent, you're on cruise control, you have no, you, you have no fears, right? It's like we talked about Buddy the elf in the basement. He's dancing.
[00:03:52] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:03:53] Speaker B: Syrup in his coffee, which turned out to be not syrup, but you have no fears. You know, when, when you're doing that, that sort of thing, but when you step out of your comfort zone and, you know, go for that next level, go for that promotion, have that conversation, try to, try to increase your weight in your, in, in the gym. You, you know, when you go from 200 to 205 pounds, there is a little fear. There's a sliver of fear there. And you know, you, you have in the back of your mind, what if I don't put this up? Well, you'll never know unless you give it a shot. And that's where we're at today. And I want to talk about a run that I went on just recently.
Slow down, guys. Don't stop.
Slow down. Don't stop. And so I, I have not been running, obviously, Just, just with my classes. So I do 30 minutes twice a week for cardio, and that's how I. Or for running. But right now I'm training for my long distance cycling, you know, but when it comes to running right now, I have fears every time I get on that treadmill because like, what if, what if I can't perform for that 30 minutes? But again, like, I'm trying to level up with that class and it's so parallel with, with the, with, with the folks that we're talking to.
[00:05:04] Speaker A: Wow. Yeah. No, man, there. There has to be some, some level of fear, like I said, even if it's small, because I'm not one to. You know, my cousins, they. They trip me out, man, because it's so funny. You. You don't realize how people see you. And I was telling my. One of my cousins about a. You know, years ago, I had an anxiety attack. He was like, you like, bro, you're not scared of anything. Like, like you'll do anything, you know, but. And that's. That's true, like a lot, A lot of times. And, and it's not like the fear isn't there, but it's the way I respond to it. You know, when, when, when I see fear, when I experience it, you know, my response usually is, okay, why am I afraid? And then how can I overcome it? Like, that's kind of my, My view on that, man. So when you're, when whatever that thing is, like you said, it could be corporate, it could be whatever, you know, you should always be pursuing to try to be better. But I also want to bring this up too, Brad. The. There is a, There's a level.
I don't know where we apply it. And I would love to hear your perspective. There's a level where there needs to be some contentment, you know, where, like, okay, like, you know, I'm, I'm happy with where I am currently in this space. Like what I. I want to hear Mr. Bradley, always climbing the mountain. What. What's your thoughts on that, man?
[00:06:27] Speaker B: Yeah, And. And one of the things that I preach on a daily is content but not satisfied. Right. So you, you, you take the of I, which I think I've talked about on the podcast, if not here. I've certainly.
[00:06:38] Speaker A: Actually, you did it on mine when I had the, the. The bar.
[00:06:42] Speaker B: Oh, really? Okay.
[00:06:43] Speaker A: Yeah, you did, you did it on there. The eye and the pillars. We did that.
[00:06:46] Speaker B: Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah. Many moons.
But you, you in all that you do. I think you really have to take accountability or take an account of the three versions of I. And I'm just going to re. Explain for anybody that's never heard of it, version one is, is who I was and you know where you're coming from.
Version two is who you are today and then version three is where you want to go.
And you always have to find some sort of content, feeling and emotion in where you are because you know where you are today is, is, is a, is a culmination, it's a summary of who you were that version one.
But if you aren't content with where you're at today, what you're doing is you're literally holding yourself back from where you're going.
Now. As far as the satisfied piece, I, I think, you know, in the growth, in the self development world, I, in, in fitness too, I think there's always room for improvement, there's always room for growth. So you can, you have to be content with where you're at, but don't ever settle for where you're at at the same time. So you know, if you say, say your, your weight loss goal is 50 pounds. Okay, once you re reach 50 pounds, I'm content there. But, but I'm not satisfied because now I want to tighten up now I want to train for a race now I want to write a book now I want to. So there's always a, there's always a sliver there, there's always a piece there where you can, you can level up somehow, some way. It doesn't have to necessarily be in that bucket of the weight loss game or the, or the, or the physique game. Maybe it's not even fitness related or health related.
How can I take where I'm at? How can I learn through the pro process of the, of the three versions of I and continue on with the journey?
[00:08:22] Speaker A: Yeah, no, that's, that's, that's good man. I'm glad you broke that down because I know somebody else wanted to hear it besides me.
Yeah, but because that, that's, that's a, that's a delicate thing. I, I even think for me, like just on a personal, like, because just being, being able to be content, you know, in the present, like you mentioned, but still having ambition to, to get better, I think is really important to find that balance.
[00:08:46] Speaker B: And I think too Dwayne, if you're not content with where you're at and you're. So when you're not content with where you're at, what you're doing is you're placing a lot of focus and emphasis on your past. And what that does is it becomes a revolving door and you're so focused on, well, why couldn't I, why couldn't I make it through that run? Why couldn't I, I lose that £20, why couldn't I have that conversation? And what you're doing is you're literally projecting the future. You are so focused on what was that. You're not focused on what is. So what will be is going to be exactly what is, because you're still focused on what's back here. So you're literally recreating the past.
And if, and if you're, if you're content with where you're at, right? If you're content with where you're at, you're not looking, you're not looking in the rear view. You're looking at what is right. And then you understand that, hey, I'm content, but not satisfied. But if you're not content with where you're at, you're looking over your rear view. That's how you get tripped up. And that's why, that's how you stay right where you are for the rest of your life.
[00:09:45] Speaker A: Yeah, there's some negative to. Instead of looking in the rear view, looking too far ahead, you know, look, looking at the, the place you want to be and being like in a, in a mental space, like, I'm so behind, like, this is the goal. I, you know, you know, the greatest book ever said, you know, you can't do nothing about yesterday, you can't do anything about tomorrow, but you can take care of today, man. And so I, I think on both sides, looking back, can, can trip you up. Looking too far ahead, man, can, can actually cause you to be stagnant because you're, you're so focused on where you, what you haven't done and you're not doing anything in the moment. You just, you know, and you, you hear that on, you know, the guys. And so the guys on the corner, man, they give you both versions. You know, the guys on the corner tell you all the heyday and things they used to do, and you know that. And then they also tell you, man, man, listen, if I had this and, and, and that, I, I'll be up here and up there, you know, so you just got to be careful, just kind of finding that balance. And it's not easy. Obviously it's not easy because, you know, if it was the case, everybody be successful. But it's just something that I'm glad we're bringing awareness to so you can kind of, you know, kind of self evaluate and make sure that you're You're.
[00:10:58] Speaker B: You got the right focus. Yeah, I'm. I'm gonna use a real life example, and I use my kids quite often because at my kids, our kids, you know, all the kids in the world, the things that they do are microcosms for what happens to adults in the big. The bigger scheme. And we used to go to this grocery store, and my. My Beckett and I, we used to walk to the grocery store from our. Our old house, and we'd hold hands and. And my son, he couldn't focus on, you know, each step, right? He always wanted to look up there at the dump truck, and he always wanted to look behind us. He always wanted to have his. Has. Have his attention everywhere else. Where we were. Like, that's a kid, right?
But that's also us. That's also us in the fitness space and in. In the professional space and all the space. You know, we wanna. We wanna get to the destination as fast as we can. We wanna, you know, think about the past. But. So what would happen is when he was looking at the dump trucks, he would trip and fall and he'd get hurt. He. When he was looking behind us, he would trip and fall and get hurt. But when he was dialed in to each step and he was holding my hands and we were deep in conversation, and he was intentional and on purpose with exactly where he was, because, man, we would just glide and we'd have no issues.
But again, like you're saying, it's so hard to stay where you are. Everybody wants to look there. Everybody wants to look back. Why, why, why, why did I have that bad day? Why can't I get to that goal? Why can't I get to that finish line? Well, because your. Your attention is in the wrong place. They. Tony Horton said that where you're. Oh, how does it go? Where your focus goes, your energy flows.
If my. If my focus is way up there, that's where my energy is going to try to be. If my energy is way up there, I'm gonna trip and fall. I'm gonna fall right in my face. So you got to be really intentional, really on purpose with where you're at right here, right now.
[00:12:43] Speaker A: Absolutely. Tony Horton also said, I'm gonna go check on the kids.
That used to be one of my favorite lines in P90X. Man, I. I knew that DVD back wasn't for it. Well, I think I watched it too many times.
[00:12:56] Speaker B: Hate it, hate it. Love it.
[00:12:57] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:13:00] Speaker B: I still say that today.
[00:13:02] Speaker A: Yeah, man. No, but that's. That's really Good man. And I, you know, back to the fear thing and, and kind of thinking about your friend, you know, and, and that I.
So in this.
So. And like Brad's friend, like, I will not chase this fear of the travel and the, the excursions and things like that. That Brad, I'm good on that. Like, I'm content with my address, you know, my backyard. I'm content with those adventures in itself that I don't have to.
I don't feel the need to. To chase those kind of fears. So just putting that out there for everybody.
[00:13:41] Speaker B: One day I'm gonna give you the itch, and you're gonna have to scratch that itch, man.
[00:13:44] Speaker A: Listen, that's what this is for.
[00:13:49] Speaker B: I like how handy that is.
[00:13:51] Speaker A: Hey, listen, listen. Boy, the stiff bodybuilders, we stiff, man. We can't get to the places. I gotta keep it right here.
[00:13:59] Speaker B: I like it.
Hey, and one thing too.
I want people to, to really take this one in and, and really hone in on this one.
So I'm, I'm doing this, this event for a handful of superintendents in my county.
And one of the things that we're going to talk about today, because the person that's in charge of running this event, she reached out to me and said, hey, you know, I want to, I want you to put on this event. I want you to come at it from this angle. And it, and the angle is this, you know, so sometimes when top of your field, what happens is you set your life on cruise control. You start telling yourself things like, I don't have any fears.
You start telling other people, I don't have any fears. Right? And that's, that's when we start to, we start to get very complacent and we start to regress because we think we have it figured out. When you're at the top of your field, that's the easiest time to start losing because you take the foot off the gas. So when you get to the top of your field or you reach a finish line, don't say things like, I have no fears. You absolutely have a fear. If you are looking to advance or, or progress in your field, your, your profession, in your fitness game, whatever, whatever area or bucket that you're talking about, you have to have some sort of fear, because if you have no fears, you're just taking your foot off the cruise control. And that's the, that's the sure way to regress.
[00:15:18] Speaker A: Yeah, man. And I. The first three I thought about, you know, like I said, when you're at the top. The. The fear of losing it, you know, that should be, you know, a sense of urgency when it comes to preservation, you know, because, you know, there. There. There are people on the top, and they. They work twice as hard.
[00:15:36] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:15:36] Speaker A: You know, because they. They. They know that something else could be around the corner. You know, Jeff, even, he used to say it all the time, man. He was like, you know, the next program is being delivered. I mean, develop every day.
[00:15:48] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:15:48] Speaker A: You know, we got to stay on top of our game. We got to make sure we bring our A game. We're doing the research, we're doing the, you know, doing the things. Because there's always somebody coming, there's always somebody wanting, you know, wanting that top spot. And when you're in that top spot, you know, you think about. I mean, football season starts tonight.
You know, the, The. The. The super bowl champs, they are on top. Well, not tonight. It's. It's Monday. It was, well, recording, but Monday. I mean, seasons started, but the champs. They're the champs. But they. They have to work to keep that spot, man. They can't. They can't fold. They can't take the foot off the gas. Because right now, they're number one. The season start, they're number one. But in order to be back on that stage at the end of the season, they have to keep going. They have to keep preparing. And that in itself should be enough fear to motivate them to. To keep their foot on the gas.
[00:16:42] Speaker B: Yeah. And I think that comes down to humility. You know, I. I think there's two types of people when it comes to winning. You know, you have that person that. That. That is mighty successful, and they have won. And they're like, I'm at the top. Ain't nobody taking me down.
And what they do, instead of saying, nobody's going to take me down and I'm going to work for the next big thing, they just say, nobody's going to take me down. And they just, you know, they flaunt versus, Versus, versus work. So if you want to stay on the stage, have some humility and keep on filling your brain with knowledge, keep on filling your body with goodness. It was Nick Saban, man. He won the national championship back in the 2000s. And he said, I'm. I'm three months behind. He literally just won the national championship. He said, I'm three months behind. Everybody else is out recruiting. Like, that's that type two person where he's like, I'm two months behind. After Just winning a national championship, that's crazy. You know, And Tom Brady said something similar.
[00:17:35] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:17:36] Speaker B: When he was asked, hey, what. What's your favorite championship? What's your favorite super bowl ring? He goes, my next one. Like, that's just. That's just a different mindset. Like, oh, man, I'd be thinking, okay, 2000.
No, next. Next one. That's.
[00:17:48] Speaker A: Yeah, that's.
[00:17:48] Speaker B: That's just that driven, gritty individual.
[00:17:51] Speaker A: Yeah. I'm gonna give it to you on the music side, you know, Lil Wayne was asked, like, what's his favorite song? He's like, the one I recorded last night. Like, he has a lot of, you know, top of the charts, but he's saying, you know, the one that I just did last night, the one I'm gonna do tonight, you know, that's. That's my favorite because I'm continuing to get better every time, man. That's. That's just a different kind of mindset, bro. Like, you know, that's. That's the elite kind of mindset. I literally was watching a.
A short before we got on about, you know, Kobe and Jordan and how, you know, Jordan when he was a Wizards, Jordan. See, a lot of people, a lot of the young cats, they remember Wizards Jordan, but Wizards Jordan, you know, gave The Lakers, like 40 something on one night and. And beat the Lakers, and then they had to go to la. So the story goes, after the Wizards, Jordan beat Kobe.
He said, you could wear the shoes, but you can never fill them.
And they said that Kobe went mute for two weeks. He didn't speak to anybody for two weeks. That's that different mindset. We already talked about that. Mamba, he locked in. He had a. He had a. He was like, yo, next time I see Jordan, it's home, you know, and you talk about the torch pass, man, that, That's. That's one of those things. But at. That was fresh in my mind, just the fact that he, He.
He had something in his hand, in his mind, and he. He was fixated on it. Turn around and had a franchise record of like 40 something points in the first half. Like, you know, just taking that. That whole thing and just like, ball of energy towards this thing, man, and we can do the exact same thing. Like, you know, although, like, we talked about saving, you know, we talked about Brady and talking about Kobe. They're all humans, like, so we have the same potential to lock in on something, to.
To have that drive to be that kind of person. Like, I'm gonna make this thing happen, man. So yeah, that was fresh in my mind, so I, I had to throw that out there.
[00:19:50] Speaker B: I love it. And the difference between those guys and the masses is those guys can lock weeks and they can go ghost mode for two weeks and really dial in on one thing for, For a long period of time where the masses today, what are they doing? They have one win. They're telling everybody about it. They're telling every single person. I had a breakthrough today, like, okay, that's, that's great, but why are you, why are you sharing that? Like, if you're sharing that, you're literally telling the universe, I'm gonna regress. I'm gonna go right back to my old ways. But by sharing that, you have the idea that you're gonna go back.
So keep your wins to yourself, keep your losses to yourself. Keep. Keep your life to yourself. Now I'm a. You and I, we're social media, you know.
[00:20:31] Speaker A: Yeah.
Yeah.
[00:20:33] Speaker B: I mean, we have, we have sort of a stage and we share our lives, you know, publicly. But, you know, there's. There's a lot of things. A lot of things that we both keep to ourselves. Wins, losses, and everything that falls in the cracks. And the reason is, is because when, when you can, when you can, you know, put some of those things on the side shelf and, and, you know, how am I going to try to say this? You, you, you, you.
I, I think you just get back to that humility piece where you don't, you don't need to tell everybody about every single win.
[00:21:08] Speaker A: Right?
[00:21:09] Speaker B: And I think that's what a lot of people are fascinated by right now is, you know, every single time I win, I have to share with the world I won today. And you telling the world at some point, I'm gonna go back, you know, it's like, it's like somebody that's, that's always posting. I'm. I'm five days without cigarettes. Why, why are you putting a number on that? If you quit cigarettes, it's black and white. You quit or you don't quit. You don't have to tell anybody it was five days. You don't have to tell anybody that you've been on the, on the program for five days. No, I'm on the program. It's black and white. You're on or you're off. Like, plain and simple, like, you don't have to tell anybody no how many days you've been on or off.
I think that's, again, like I said, humility.
[00:21:51] Speaker A: I got you, man. Yeah. No, that, that's Interesting so that all of those comments does not regard. Does not pertain to the people we asked to share your breakthroughs early in the show.
Share your breakthroughs. You know, you don't have to share everything.
I want to see a break.
[00:22:08] Speaker B: I want to see one breakthrough, and I want to see, you know, we're halfway through the year, right? One half of the year is gone behind us.
What's your biggest breakthrough? That's. That's what we want to hear, is we want to hear those big boys, you know, the, the, the. The mile. The milestones, the, the big. The big breakthroughs that, you know, you've already probably shared.
Because we share everything and. But we want to know about it. We want you to tag us. The reason is, sometimes is you gotta post those things because you got to be filled up, right? You got to have that encouragement from other people that don't know about your stuff, but also too be humble, hold on to some of those good wins.
[00:22:49] Speaker A: I love it.
[00:22:50] Speaker B: Coin.
[00:22:51] Speaker A: Yeah, no, absolutely. It has. It goes back to balance, man. It has to be a balance of the two, you know, because even when we talked about, you know, ambition versus contentment, like, it has to be a balance. You need a little bit of both when it comes to just anything. So definitely, definitely big, big, big ups on that for sure.
So you spoke of us being kind of out there, and you, you dropped a bomb on us last week with a, With a website and, you know, and a new book and all kind of stuff. Like, Brad. Brad had all kind of stuff cooking that I literally, I'm telling y', all, when we sign on, it's like, what's up, man? How you doing? Everything good? All right, let's hit record. Like, it's literally no, Like, I had no idea, you know, and so I, I, look, I'm gonna use the, the platform, man. I, I recently have received an ambassador deal with. With Bounce Gummies. So make sure you guys check them out. Use my code, my. My Instagram handle, which is Dwayne21. But reason why I'm excited about this, Brad, is because I, you know, it's something when you already use the product and then they recognize, you know, hey, you, you know, you. You got a little presence online, man. And that, that in itself, man, just made me feel really good, just that my, My content was being noticed and I already was a fan of the product, man. So shout out to this man. You know how E2M folks, man, there's some already folks that already got theirs, claimed it, you know, Already, whatever. But, but yeah, just. That just goes to, that's that go. That's twofold, man. First of all, being humble that they would consider me, you know, being excited about, you know, a win because, you know, our space is social media and that, you know, that's a win when, when you're noticed as a potential brand ambassador, man. So just, I'm just excited about that. So I wanted to put that out there for the folks.
[00:24:48] Speaker B: Content but not satisfied.
[00:24:51] Speaker A: That's right.
[00:24:52] Speaker B: Keep raising the bar with that ambassadorship because I mean, the sky's the limit with, with ambassadorships. And that goes for our clients too.
You know, a lot of you don't think you have a stage or a platform, but tell your story. It's very unique, you know, it's very, very personable to you. And by following through with your story, nobody has your story, so tell your story. And that, that's how you, you know, there's so many people out there that are trying to create a space by living another person's dream or talking like somebody else or trying to emulate somebody else. And, you know, it's all fine and dandy to try to mirror somebody that you admire. But at the same time, you know, I love the Rock.
I'm not going to be the Rock. I never will be the Rock. He's the Rock. He's Dwayne the Rock Johnson. I'm Bradley Barmore. And you know, like, tell your story and that's, that's how you set yourself apart from the Most.
[00:25:41] Speaker A: Yeah, no, 100% tell your story, you know, and you don't know who you are helping. You know, we tell that to our E2M folks inside the group. Like a lot of people when they make that post that they were nervous about, talk about fear. They were scared to put themselves out there. And that very post is the very thing that sparked somebody else, inspires somebody else, lets them know, like, I'm not in this alone, you know, so definitely, definitely do that, man. So. All right, Bradley, as we get ready to end this plane, man, anything you want to say or you want to close it out? What we doing here?
[00:26:17] Speaker B: Listen, folks, fear attacks those that are trying to level up and go to that next, next level, next, next goal, next milestone.
Fear will not attack those who are sitting on the couch. So get up off the couch, go for a 20 minute walk, get after it, chase down yours.
[00:26:35] Speaker A: Yes, sir. Till next time, we out of here.
