[00:00:00] Speaker A: All right, all right, all right, all right. Ellen, how you doing today? [00:00:03] Speaker B: Great. Great. Thank you for having me. [00:00:06] Speaker A: Of course. I'm super happy to have you. So, first and foremost, people may not know who I am, your viewers, and my viewers may not know who you are, which I don't know how they don't know, because everybody should know who you are. But first and foremost, guys, my name is Jeff. I've been a fitness coach for many, many, many years. I'm a lot older than I look, and I am the CEO and lead trainer for E2 and Fitness, which, Ellen is one of our amazing clients. We've enjoyed working with her. For how long, Ellen? [00:00:34] Speaker B: Two years. [00:00:35] Speaker A: For two years. So enjoy working with Ellen and seeing some of her great posts and just following her story, her journey as an entrepreneur, as a mom, and as a client. And so every once in a while, we get to highlight some of our members. And today I wanted to bring one of my members on and highlight what she does and talk about her journey. So, Ellen, welcome. Welcome to the podcast. [00:00:56] Speaker B: I am so honored to be here. This is so exciting. And, yeah, I love. I love E2M. So I have to tell you, my sister tried multiple times to get me to join E2M, and I'm so glad I finally said yes. [00:01:13] Speaker A: Where is this sister? I gotta give her. I gotta give her two high fives. No, that's really. That's really cool. And you know, honestly, Ellen, that's a lot of people's story. They're just not ready, you know, they're just not ready. And so one thing for the people who don't know me, I'm not an aggressive trainer, man. I'm somebody that's here to help. I'm always here and always about helping because, you know, everybody's health journey looks different. There is no one size fits all for health journeys. But there are some commonalities in a lot of people's health journeys. If you're trying to lose weight, you're trying to, you know, get in shape, that kind of stuff. There's a lot of commonalities, but everybody's journey is different. So with that first question, you know, I kind of want to. I want to get into my first question. What. What was. What brought you to wanting to focus on your fitness a little bit more? So what convinced you where. You know, for you, it was E2M, but what convinced you to take a more focused approach on your health? [00:02:07] Speaker B: Yeah, definitely just losing weight. I was one year postpartum with my third baby girl when I started. [00:02:15] Speaker A: And then my congrats on three babies, mama. Yep, yep, yep, yep. [00:02:19] Speaker B: All girls. My oldest at the time was sibling six, five and then one. And so really, it was just focusing on me again and having that time to do that because my third was a really challenging pregnancy. Challenging baby. And so it was rough. But then I was just. It was time to take, you know, to take a little me time and. But to also, like you said, I didn't need another, like, extreme program that I would only stick with until, like, I got sick a week later and then fall off and then, you know, I'll start again on Monday. I didn't need that. And that was what convinced me was because my sister was like, this is more about, like, you can, you can maintain this. This is habits and that you can actually maintain. And I think what, what, what your Secret Sauce at E2M is, is your co. Is you and your coaches, because you're so authentic. And even in the workouts, whether it be a 45 minute workout, whether it be a 15 minute workout, somewhere along that way, one of the coaches is going to throw something just like a small goal at you. [00:03:29] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:03:29] Speaker B: And you can, like, I have been able to apply that to every aspect of my life. That's what's really neat to me. [00:03:39] Speaker A: I'm so glad you said that. Because, you know, one thing about my company, you know, I am always focused on, you know, helping others. And when I brought my team, every single person from my team, we all have that same thing in common. We really enjoy helping people. If you're doing any kind of job, if you're an entrepreneur out there, guys, I'll tell you, you got to have a passion for what you're doing. It doesn't matter what comes with it. But if you don't have that passion for what you're doing, the people who you're selling things to, promoting things to, at some point, they'll pick up on it. And so I'm glad that you picked up on that. We all care about what we do. Okay, okay. Cool, cool, cool. So now I want to talk more about your life. I want to hear more about this. You gotta. You got a farm and stuff like that. You got all kind of cool stuff going on. So. So first of all, I will ask, you know, how did your journey with E2M, you know, help you with juggling being a mom of three? You got three small kids, you got a farm, your entrepreneur, your makeup artist, you got a lot going on. And as y' all can see, I didn't get my makeup done for this. I. I'm out of bounds. I'm out of my. I didn't get my makeup done for this podcast. But Ellen, yours is looking on point, so. Hey, see what you can do. So, so, so, so, so tell us how you juggle everything you have going on in life. [00:04:48] Speaker B: Yeah. So I'm a mom of three girls. Like I mentioned, we live in rural Iowa. We farm. We're in a family farm business. So our like, no two days ever look the same, especially during planting and harvest season. And I actually started E2M during planting season. So it's amazing how this program is so flexible and how I can literally access it from my phone anywhere and I can, you know, have the ability to do the 15 minute or whatever workouts. But not only am I a stay at home mom of three, and I also help on the farm. I drive the. I drive the green car. I'm in the truck. I'll do makeup videos in the fall in my tractor. [00:05:28] Speaker A: All right. But in the, in the, in the tractor with the makeup on point. [00:05:34] Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely. No, I. So I'm also a makeup artist. And, you know, I like, you talk about passions and I have a passion for makeup. I found that at a very young age when I was just in high school. I started wedding makeup when I was a junior in high school, and it's just always continued in my life. But when I really buckled down and got serious, that was in 2020. I found this makeup line. It's a simple compact makeup. Something like this. [00:06:04] Speaker A: Oh, cool. [00:06:05] Speaker B: Is so simple that any mom can do. And it was all about, you know, simplifying your life. And as a busy, like mom, new mom, I didn't have the money or the time to spend all this product, but I still wanted to look and feel put together. And so helping other women has just always been a passion. So then it's kind of ironic. I really got into it because of my wedding makeup business, my in person business. [00:06:28] Speaker A: Oh, wow. [00:06:28] Speaker B: Then 2020 happened. Covet happened. [00:06:30] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah, covet, man. [00:06:32] Speaker B: And so all my weddings were canceled and so I ended up just started social selling. So I. That's where I've been showing up for the last six years on Instagram, building a community of women and sharing and teaching and virtual color matching every day, building compacts, whether it's simple like this or it's like a little bit. Maybe you're like a makeup junkie, like, like all about it. But yeah, so that's, that's what I'VE been doing. And I have to say, like, this is just being in rural Iowa, being like, for instance, like I drive everywhere. It's. I'm like an hour away from the nearest Target. [00:07:10] Speaker A: No way. [00:07:10] Speaker B: Like an hour away. [00:07:13] Speaker A: Wow. [00:07:14] Speaker B: To get groceries is 45 minutes. So, like, to time is everything for me. [00:07:21] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. [00:07:22] Speaker B: Especially juggling kids and all the farming stuff. So to be able to do something at home that's flexible, that I truly do enjoy, I can fit in the nooks and crannies of my day. [00:07:33] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:07:34] Speaker B: Really is amazing. [00:07:35] Speaker A: No, I love it. I think that is a common challenge for a lot of busy moms and dads, busy parents in general. And that's why, you know, I try to offer so many different types of workout programs longer, like you mentioned earlier, you know, 45 minute stuff, 15min stuff, just different durations. You know, I try to offer things that people can fit into a busy schedule. So time constraints, children, businesses. You have to take care of yourself. You can't pour from an empty cup. You have to have your health in order to be able to take care of all the people who are around you. So you're kind of hitting the nail on the head. A lot of people just had so much going on in life and, and Covid and all that kind of stuff that, you know, trying to find ways to, to get all the things, all the things done, you know, and hearing about all your things, driving the tractor and having to drive to get groceries and taking care of the kids and all that, man, you know, it just, it reminds me of how important, you know, it is to. To do something for your health, you know, whether it's a 10, 15 minute workout or 45 minute workout, but to do something. And you found a way to fit that stuff in. And that's why I'm proud of you. That's why I wanted you on here, because I'm proud of you. All right. Okay. The next, the next thing I will ask you is just how, how has improving your health, you know, mentally and physically? How has improving your health helped you become a better makeup artist, a better entrepreneur, a better mom, you know, a better wife, you know, how has improving your health really helped you in those areas? [00:09:04] Speaker B: Okay, so this goes back to just like creating the small goals. And Mandy's really good about this coach. Mandy is just setting those small goals. And for me, as someone who never used to work out, Jeff, like, I always wanted to be the workout girl, but I never was. Yeah. And after having, after being a mom of three, raising My babies and they are my why. I think it's really important that I. That you find your why. And I love that you also do the little. I'm kind of getting you sidetracked. But I also love how you bring in health because it's more than just looking, you know, a certain way. It really is internally health. And that's where I love that you bring up the mental aspect of it. Because for me, that's been almost as big of a deal as the physical. [00:09:53] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:09:53] Speaker B: Because you can apply it to every aspect of your life. Like, for me, you know the saying, you look good, you feel good. [00:10:00] Speaker A: Yeah, for sure. [00:10:01] Speaker B: It's a little, like, cliche, but, like, you really get down to it when you. When you take care of yourself and you take that time, everything else just feels a little bit brighter and stronger and you have more confidence and you show up. I can tell in my business, my business is grown so much in the last two years. I think it's because truly of how I feel on the inside. And so, you know, as a social seller and having to show up on social media and create content and show up on stories authentically, no one's going to want to watch your stuff if you're, like, dragging butt and 100% not feeling good about life. And you got to bring a certain energy. And by putting myself first and, you know, hitting that small goal, like Mandy always says, you know, maybe it's just like finishing this push up for the minute. You know, it builds a level of confidence in you because you were able to do that small goal and then you're able to, you know, I'm able to create this content and press post. [00:11:02] Speaker A: Yep. And it just. [00:11:04] Speaker B: It all connects. So. [00:11:07] Speaker A: No, I love that. And I mean, just giving you. Giving you your flowers publicly, you know, it shows in your content because like you said, that's a part of your business. You know, how you present yourself on social media to the public, how confident you are in your videos because you're doing tutorials and things like that on your social media page. We will make sure people who are not following you, they are following you. But you do tutorials and stuff like that. And like you said, the better you feel about yourself, the easier it comes across on. On the social media, you know, footage, reels, etc. And I. I try to remind people about that in a gentle way because I want everybody to be confident in their own skin, whatever that looks like to you. That's not skinny mini. That's not, you know, unhealthy is whatever it looks like to you. But at the end of the day, it comes across in everything you do. If you're a confident person and you feeling good about yourself, and if you don't feel good about yourself, there's something you can do about it. And that's where people like me come in. Let's do something about it. Let's not live our whole lives not comfortable in our skin, not confident in the boardroom, on the social media, wherever you do business. Why always feel uncomfortable about that? And I don't want to drag out that point. But one more thing I'll say about that, the biggest thing for me, for clients, especially clients like you, Ellen, is like, once I see them reach a certain level of like, confidence and fitness, they learn one simple thing. The clothes wear you, you don't wear the clothes. When you're confident and you feel like you look good, everything looks good on you. I don't care if you're wearing a Goodwill shirt or a Versace Louis Vuitton. If you're confident and you love your body, it's going to look good on you. And I always tell people a T shirt from Walmart will look good on a fit body, but a Louis Vuitton or Versace on an unhealthy person will never look as good. So it's one of those things, man, you just, you just gotta, you gotta see the benefits mentally and physically of taking care of your health. Okay, so, so, so, so I, I do want to ask a question because I'm interested in this. Right? So you are out there every day in life. You have a real life thing that requires you to be healthy, to be fit. So how has being healthier helped in your everyday life with farming, with being like your actual thing that you and your family do? When I came on and we talked. Yeah, we just got finished doing corn. I was like, oh, man, that's, that's pretty dope. So how did being healthier help you with your actual, you know, farming and doing your daily tasks? [00:13:43] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Energy. Energy for sure. Energy for sure. And just like the, the reminder constantly in the community of sleep is important. [00:13:53] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:13:54] Speaker B: You know, and obviously with a working out part of it, whether, you know, and I feel like, honestly, Coach, I just, I, I barely scratched the surface with etf. That's how I feel in my season, [00:14:05] Speaker A: try to give a lot in my season of life. [00:14:08] Speaker B: And that's what I love about it though. And that's why I think I can stay super consistent with it, is because there's so many, there's so many options that you can do. And so I can take that into whatever season of life that I'm in, whether that be like, literally nursing babies and being pregnant or, you know, in the foot in the field. [00:14:32] Speaker A: I love it, I love it, I love it. [00:14:34] Speaker B: You just gotta have the energy. I think it, I think really it comes down. It definitely gives you so much more [00:14:39] Speaker A: energy, you know, So I served in the military for a long time and a lot of Midwest guys, you know, they were always in such great shape. I was like, man, you know, that's come from farming, man. Being on that farm is taxing. And so I can only imagine, you know, after having those children and, and bouncing back and being healthy again, that you are, you are a value add to the farm work out there. Okay. Okay. [00:15:01] Speaker B: Well, honestly, I'm not like too much into the labor aspect of it. The guy, the guys treat me pretty well where I don't have to do a whole lot of that, but I love it. All in all, like, yeah, there's a, it's a long days, long days and a lot of up and down and you have to be mobile, like hard work. Yeah. [00:15:20] Speaker A: So. So, so, hey, I now, now I want to talk about your, your process. Pride and joy, the three of them. So what is it? What does it make you feel like as a mother, you know, knowing that, you know, you're doing what you can do to be healthy for them. And I say that in a way that I want to make sure nobody misinterprets that. It's like I've been preaching this the last, you know, few weeks on my, you know, my, my fitness group and who I talk to in my circles. Your children are going to depend on you as kids and they're going to depend on you as adults. Both of my parents have passed away and I see the reality of what I'm saying to people all the time. Like, don't just think about your kids needing you to wipe their butts and spoon feed them. It's like when they're trying to make a decision on a financial move or who they're going to marry or a life choice, or they're going through a rough time. Like, as a parent, you're always going to be that soft space for them to land, no matter what they're dealing with in life. And so you want to be around for as long as you can to be there for your child or in your case, your children. And so when I say this, I say this in the most loving way. Those people are depending on you too much for you to be unhealthy by choice if it's something that's going on in life, a disease or illness or injury. Got it. But we can't just choose not to be healthy because those kids are depending on you to be around as they age, especially those three girls as they get older. So. So tell me how it feels to get healthy for them and be focused on being the best mother you can. [00:17:10] Speaker B: Yeah, well, I'm definitely not perfect, but no one is. And. But I love that. I would definitely say that it makes me feel a little bit more. I. I feel a little bit more proud. They are usually working out with me or love it, you know, involved in some way because, you know, getting up super early before them doesn't happen as often. [00:17:32] Speaker A: For sure, for sure, for sure. [00:17:33] Speaker B: Just they're in it with me. And when I first started, it was really. My oldest could really tell. She's like, so, what program are you doing? And it was. It was like, oh, mom's not eating the hamburger with a bun. And so then they stopped eating the hamburger with the bun because mom's doing. [00:17:51] Speaker A: Wow. [00:17:52] Speaker B: And so. And like, there's more vegetables. And just. It really does come down. And you're so right. Like, it comes down to how are we going to. I guess, at least for me, how am I going to raise my kids by, like, by example? Not just telling them you need to eat healthy? Well, no, we need to show them how to eat healthy. Because I think the way I grew up, and I think a lot of my generation grew up where, like, working out wasn't, like, a part of a daily routine. [00:18:23] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:18:24] Speaker B: And that's what I hope to instill in my girls by showing by example that, like, working out isn't a punishment and eating, you know, bright green foods and all these whole foods is not a punishment. And so for me, I like to have them get involved as much as my patients will handle, like, let's chop the vegetables together. Let's. You know, because the more that then they are involved in it, then that they want to eat it. [00:18:54] Speaker A: Yep. [00:18:55] Speaker B: So you. [00:18:56] Speaker A: You. And I want to. I want to give you kudos for how you opened that up because, you know, a lot of people misinterpret, especially me as a fitness guy. You know, I'm not looking for anybody to be perfect because I'm not perfect. [00:19:06] Speaker B: Right. [00:19:07] Speaker A: The thing about it is, too many people feel like you got to be on one extreme or the other, like, hey, I'm just living life. I'm just making it. Making it by. I'm not exactly focused on my health and wellness, or I'm extremely focused, and everything is all about my health and fitness and everything I eat. And so I'm more of the mindset of what can you consistently maintain? You can't. You. You can't maintain either one. And that's the thing. You can't maintain being unhealthy because at some point you'll get sick. So you can't maintain that. And you may not be able to maintain everything in your life. Eating, sleeping, drinking, waking up is about health and fitness. You may not be able to maintain that either. But what is the balance? What is doing enough to have a healthy body to maintain good labs when you go to the doctor, to be able to fight off an illness, or if you were to get something that's cancer or something, you can fight off those things because your body's healthy enough. It doesn't have to be extremes. I have to be nothing. I do nothing. You don't got to be an iron man or iron woman either. You can be somewhere, you know, somewhere in the middle where you're doing what you can to take care of your health. So that was a great way to put that about trying your best and not being perfect. Okay, so I got a couple more questions, and I'll get you back to the farm. So. So. So tell me this, man. You've. You've done such. And this is where I. I'm always looking in the reverse up to my clients. You've done a really great job of, like, building up a brand media. Tell me how you did that. Because a lot of people are, you know, trying to build up social media followings for different things and business or social, whatever, but you found a way to do that. So tell us how you. How you did that. [00:20:45] Speaker B: Honestly, it's showing up consistently and authentically. [00:20:50] Speaker A: I love it. [00:20:52] Speaker B: And just putting your best self forward whenever you get on, but also being able to be authentic. I am really focused right now. Just, I have been focusing on just Instagram, growing that platform, and that's where most of my followers are like, you know, I buy the makeup from you, but I'm really here for your. For you and like, your family. [00:21:12] Speaker A: I love it, I love it, I love it. [00:21:13] Speaker B: I think people support people, and I think the more vulnerable you can be and the more that you also add value to their life. [00:21:25] Speaker A: Yep. [00:21:25] Speaker B: They're gonna stay and hang out and support you. And if you can ride the wave of learning and trying and failing and failing and trying and failing. [00:21:36] Speaker A: That's a good point. [00:21:38] Speaker B: You know, you gotta learn to ride the wave. And especially with social media and, you know, life is always changing, right? Social media is always changing. It is so much different now than when I started. [00:21:50] Speaker A: Big Waves. [00:21:51] Speaker B: Big Waves. [00:21:56] Speaker A: That's good stuff. So, okay, my. My last question for you, and this is something that could potentially help somebody out there in these social media or Internet streets. You talked about how your sister had to try to encourage you. A lot of people have people like me on social media saying, hey, you need to be healthy, you need to be fit, and yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't know this guy. I don't know that person. Whoop dee doo. Right now that you've seen, you know for yourself the benefits of saying yes to trying to be healthier, what would you say to somebody out there that is where you were when your sister encouraged you, what would you say to that person? Because I'm sure there's somebody out there like you who watching this podcast right now that. That's on the fence, that's like, I'll do it next week, I'll do it next month. I'll do it next year. And there's. There, there's a million reasons why that are all valid to them and could be so. But. But what? What would you say? [00:23:00] Speaker B: Stop waiting. There's no perfect time. That was. That was my big one. As I just kept saying, I'm just, I'm too busy right now with Vivian's health because she wasn't in great health and I needed to get her healthy. And, you know, I just don't have time. I. There's. There's no time. There is time. You have 15 minutes. And when I started, I started on my treadmill in January of that, of that year, two years ago, and I would work while I was on my walking pad. And I tell you what, I can walk a long time when I got my phone in front of me. [00:23:39] Speaker A: That's a good tip. That's a good tip. That's a good tip. That's a good tip. You know, I tell people that. Same tip, man. And people, it may not be the most aesthetic thing for your bedroom, but if you could put a walking pad, that's where you, like, lay down and watch TV at night. If you finish your work day or you put the kids down and you go to your bedroom and you lay on the bed and you watch your favorite shows and you just lay there and veg out Bring a walking pad to your bedroom. Bring a spin bike to your bedroom. I mean, a treadmill might be too big, but bring a walking pad, you can slide it up under the bed. Or you bring a bike to your bedroom and you can hop on that. That. That walking pad or that bike, and you can get 30 minutes in while you're watching your favorite show, right? You can fit it in. [00:24:23] Speaker B: You can totally fit it in. Absolutely. I still, like, I work from my phone while I walk, and then that's my cardio for the day, because I could easily work on my phone for an hour. [00:24:32] Speaker A: You know, I love it. [00:24:33] Speaker B: I love answering messages and all that kind of stuff or just, like, getting inspired too. So, yeah, just stop waiting for the perfect time, because there is no perfect time. And the more you put it off, the more you're just gonna not feel great. So stop. [00:24:49] Speaker A: Stop waiting for the perfect time. You man, listen, that's a great way to kind of bring this thing to a close, because multiple times in my life, I tried to play with stocks, right? So when it comes to stocks, everybody's always trying to find the right time to, like, sell, to buy, to whatever. [00:25:09] Speaker B: Your. [00:25:09] Speaker A: Your health is not like stocks. [00:25:12] Speaker B: You're right. [00:25:13] Speaker A: The rate. The rate. The rate of return on investing in your health is astronomically higher than any stock. And today is the day. You can start by going for a walk, by going for a run, by doing a workout. You can start in your own way. And Ellen brought it up earlier, it's not about being perfect. It's not about getting every single workout in is doing what you can. And over time, I found after training over 250,000 people, that the more you are consistent with health, the more you'll enjoy it. And it won't be a habit or attack. It won't be a burden or a task to you. It'll become a habit. And once it becomes a habit, then you might decide that you want to be a little bit more healthier. So if you're giving two days a week to work out, you might decide to give three. And let's say you got a vacation coming up. So now you do four.
