[00:00:01] Speaker A: What up, what up? What up? Welcome back to the Bad Podcast. Brad and Dwayne and my brother Brad. Brad, my brother, what are we talking about today, my friend? [00:00:09] Speaker B: Got the energy, boy? Today we're going to talk about convenience and patience. Convenience. So this is straight out of Prep Rep Repeat. You already knew this, folks, page 105. Convenience can trick us into thinking that acquiring the quality values in life, true fulfillment, growth and lasting impact, comes with some ease. This notion couldn't be further from the truth. If you genuinely want to leave a meaningful mark on the world and create positive legacy, you must cultivate a different mindset. One that embodies patience and persistence. [00:00:41] Speaker A: Let's get it. [00:00:45] Speaker B: Are you ready? Are you ready? [00:01:02] Speaker A: What it look like, what it be like, what it do? Back in here, another episode of the Bad Podcast. Brad and Wayne, super excited, man, to kick off another week, man, and this episode is actually brought to you by E2M premium. Why? Because right now when you're listening to this, E2M Premium has just dropped a new program called Premium Lead Lean. Premium Lean. I want to call it Super Lean, Summer Lean, but Premium Lean, it is a six week program that is a combination of full body and core. All the movements you need to get that body right for the summer six weeks. Give you the perfect countdown, right to. What is that? July, right? Mid June. July. [00:01:46] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. [00:01:47] Speaker A: Beach weather, baby. Beach weather. So here's my pro tip. Those that are members of each one premium listening to this, if you really want to like hone in and get that, that desired body, man, take the, the legacy meal plan, right? Take the legacy meal plan. The strict. Like, say I'm gonna be strict for six weeks and then do this program, Full body core. You do that. Tell it, you know, tag us because you heard it here on the Bad podcast. So, hey, I did the lean with the legacy meal plan and these are my results, man. Because I promise you that is going to have you good and ready for the beach, man. So, Brad, anything you want to add to that, man? Before we jump into our topic, let's. [00:02:31] Speaker B: Level up even further. Anybody that's wanted to do the. The premium lean, I'm, I'm all in on the six week premium lean. I will be doing the legacy meal plan. You know, with training for my Cincinnati Flying Pig marathon. It's been really tough to, you know, hone in on on a good, solid, clean regimen as far as nutrition goes. I've been hitting a lot of carbohydrates fuel for my long runs, but I'm I'm on the lean boy. I'm gonna, I'm gonna tighten up for summer boat season. I already know this. I'm ready. So I'm tapped in for the six week lean program. [00:03:03] Speaker A: All right, well, look, y'all, y'all have accountability. Partner Brad is tapped in. Let's get it. I love it, man. No, absolutely, man. And I guess this kind of goes along with, you know, what, what you, what your topic is, man. You know, this, this going into something new and, and, you know, and how we're going to address it and then having the mindset that you just talked about, you know, so let's get into it, man. [00:03:26] Speaker B: Yeah, so this, this chapter, man, chapter seven, it's called pp and the first P is patience. It's full of nuggets. So I, I just kept on reading when we had our little break there. [00:03:36] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:03:36] Speaker B: And so still on page 105, guys, to illustrate this point, consider the movement of a glacier. A glacier may only inch forward an inch or two a year, yet its relentless progress carves out immense valleys and shapes entire landscapes over time. This slow but steady transformation serves as a metaphor for the impact we can make in our own lives and in the lives of others. Just like the glacier, the path to achieving significant change may seem slow and arduous, but it is the consistent effort and commitment that leads to profound results. Guys, if you think about, you know, if you think about a rapid storm, like tornadoes and lightning and thunder and all that stuff, like, you know, exactly when, when a rumble of thunder cracks or a bolt of lightning hits the ground, or when a tornado rolls into Kansas and it reshapes the format. But with those storms, you can literally go right back in and fix what was broken or fix what was, what was messed up. But with the great a glacier, you can't, you can't reshape a valley. You can't, you can't, you can't take off the top of a mountain. And so you. As boring as a glacier is, and that 1 inch or 2 inches that it moves in such a slow period of time, that's how we need to progress through our journey. And so, so often we get caught up in this idea that I need to get to my goal and I need to get there now and. [00:04:53] Speaker A: No, that, now that, that's, that hit heavy, man, because, you know, the, I never thought about the, the level of impact that, you know, those small movements make over time. I'm even thinking I'm about to take it to science, man, that the plate tectonics man. You know, the actual content is moving. You know, those, those. When that, that movement is small, like you don't feel it, you don't see it. There's nothing visible at the moment, but it's happening. And then that very thing like you mentioned, over a period of time makes changes that can't be reversed. You know, it makes changes that can't be. That, that is. Oh, man, that's, that's real good. That's really good, right? Yeah, I like it. [00:05:41] Speaker B: I like when the continents were all together. [00:05:43] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:05:44] Speaker B: You're saying that in another 10, 000 years the continents will be all back together because they're still on the back side. Yes. Yeah. So what we know today, you know, 10,000, 10 million. I don't know the, the time frame, but Pangea was one when all the continents were together. And you can see, you know, you can see it's almost like a puzzle where the, the pieces all fit together. Right. And today we don't know a Pangea. A lot of people don't know a Pangea, but they know of North America, they know of South America, Africa and so on. And that's concept we have to start applying to our lives. Like, is it boring? Yeah, it's. You're going to have some stagnants. You're going to have those monotonous days where you, you just don't want to do it right. But you, you find yourself falling in love with that one inch a day. You find yourself, you know, falling in love with the Kaizen principle that we've talked about so often in, in, you know, the fractional movements, fractional growth. I, I see a smile, man, what do you got? [00:06:36] Speaker A: I'm trying not to be a middle school. [00:06:40] Speaker B: Where you're going, I knew exactly. I tried to pivot as fast as I could. [00:06:49] Speaker A: I am, I'm not even gonna address it, man. But no, I, I couldn't, I couldn't hold back. [00:06:54] Speaker B: One mile. One mile, right. [00:06:56] Speaker A: Thank you. Thank you. Much better. [00:07:00] Speaker B: I tried to pivot as fast as I could. [00:07:02] Speaker A: I noticed, I noticed. And I was like, ah, be mature, Dwayne. This is a dope show. We're gonna be mature. [00:07:09] Speaker B: Yeah, dude, you know. Yeah, go ahead, you go. [00:07:16] Speaker A: Okay. All right. But no, I was just, I was just, just the kind of reiterating what you were saying, you know, about that, that aspect of it, because that's the part where most people quit, you know, when they don't see. And we talk about it when they don't see the, they don't see the response. They don't see the change. You know, and, and it's amazing to me because, you know, that's why we always talk about taking pictures, because it, it looks the same every day. Again, we talk about it and. But that when you compare that first picture to that, that last picture after, you know, four weeks, three weeks, whatever, it, it just, it's mesmerizing, man. It just, it blows your mind just to see, you know, what can happen if you stay the course. You know, I did a live. Not last week, before last. You know, all programs work if you stick to them. You know, like, you know, each one we're special now. We, we have the sauce with the people. But if you, if, if you stick to that P90X or that, you know, all of those insanity. If you stick to it, you know, it all works, man. And it's just a matter of having a mindset and being willing to, like, lock in and stick to something. [00:08:30] Speaker B: Yeah. To speak to those pictures. I. It was a National Geographic episode or edition where this guy started taking a picture of these glaciers, I think in. Oh, where was it? New Zealand or Iceland? I, I can't exactly remember, but he started taking pictures of the same GLACIER since, like 1950. And what it was is it was, it was a, it was a, one of those flash frames or whatever, and it started in 1950, and then it went all the way to like 2015 or something along those lines. And, and it was really cool because you could see the regression in that, in that glacier. And I've put my eyes on the glaciers in New Zealand and in Iceland. And you want to talk about. Fascinating. Holy cow. And that could be literally your journey. That could be literally your growth if you start to take those pictures. Because if you start. I mean, we've talked about this one a hundred times. You start to look in the mirror, you're going to be nothing more than frustrated and discouraged because, because you don't see those fractional growth days. You don't see those days that you work. I worked really hard today. I've got to see some growth. No, I've worked extremely hard today. I've got to see that scale move wrong. But then you come back over time. Same same concept with the. There was this oak tree study years ago where they, they took a picture of an oak tree because a kid said something along the lines of, well, I've never seen a tree grow. Well, you don't see a tree grow in a day or, you know, even a month. Or you don't see a tree grow in a lifetime, really. Unless you're taking those pictures, and then all of a sudden, wait a minute. I do see growth. Every single day I see growth. And that was a really neat way to think about it. And that could be, again, your journey. Start taking the pictures. [00:10:12] Speaker A: Absolutely. Absolutely. You know, and this, it's, it's so funny, man. The, the, the progression, you know, when it comes to that, when you, when you're taking the pictures and you, and you, and you start to see. Because I tell people all the time, you know, whenever I took my four week pictures, that was my. I was like, oh, snap. Like, this is working. Like it was the, it was the few. It gave me fuel, man. It, it motivated me to see that, but also what I wanted to say. And I almost lost it, but I found it again. Sometimes you have to change your metrics. Sometimes you're looking at the wrong metrics. Sometimes you're looking at the scale or you're looking at a picture instead. Look at how many reps did I do this week? How. How did I do, you know, bicep curls for a full minute this week? Did I do 10? You know, you can, you can track different things to continue to keep you motivated during that process. You know, you, you just have to change your metric, you know, step, put the scale away. You know, don't take pictures until, you know, a couple weeks pass and start tracking small, smaller goals. Mandy talk about it all the time. Even you talk about it in your class, you know, setting those small goals, man, you know, if it's, if it's starting to clap, some people small go, man. Listen, some people small goal is to hit Facebook and hit play. That's, that, that's a win for some people. And, and you should, you should count that win. You should celebrate it. Other people have goals like, you know, you, you like I talked about, you know, being able to do exercise for a minute or even for me, like, you know, I, I look at rep range and, and weights. I always try to go up, you know, try to continue to progress. So you, sometimes you just have to change, change the metrics that you're measuring yourself by and use that thing, you know, to, to keep you encouraged as you continue to head towards your goal. [00:11:57] Speaker B: And just to tie into that, you know, you change your metrics and change your expectations, too. A lot of us, we have an expectation that, okay, I've been grinding for three months. Three months in a day has got to be easier than it was three months ago. Not necessarily. You know, it's. It's like, if you think about, I think it's the EKG is the lines that go up and down. They show you what your heart rate is, the ekg, you know, and I, I mentioned this just recently with the, with a. One of our lives with Dr. Carolyn. A lot of people, they, they get confused when they hear consistency. They, they hear flat line, right? But in life, what's a flat line mean? It means you have no life. So you have to understand that you're gonna have ups and you're gonna have valleys. You're gonna have peaks and valleys. You're gonna have ups and downs. And your, and your heart rate and your life is going to fluctuate. You know, physical activity is going to give you a spike. Your environment, your emotions, your feelings are all going to give you a spike. Or, or sometimes those emotions, environments, and physical activity could. You could lead you to that valley. So, so what I say today is, is embrace those peaks. You know, really cherish those days because they're far and few between them and, you know, tied it tied into your goal there. My first goal of the day is put my shoes on. [00:13:11] Speaker A: Right? [00:13:11] Speaker B: Even, even my, I've been at this for 12, 15 years, and my, My goal of the day is to put my shoes on. And that's oftentimes the hardest thing, but it. Cherish the peaks, but then when you're in the valleys, understand that that's not permanent. That's not forever. Learn. How did I get in this valley? How did I lose? How did I fall this far? Like, it, It. It's a progress. It's a progressive regression. It's a progressive regression to get yourself into that deep, dark hole, just like it is to get you to that peak. It's going to be slow, and it's. It's the aha moment that you have one day where you look in the mirror or if you see a friend you haven't seen in 10 years, and they say, hey, you doing all right? And you're like, what do you mean? You look a little off and then you look in the mirror, you're like, whoa, when did this happen? It didn't happen yesterday, and it certainly didn't happen today. It, it happened over the last three, six, nine months. Three, six, nine years. But you realize it in one day. And the same thing happens with your wins. You don't recognize that you're winning. Everybody else is going to see you winning before you see yourself winning. And even at that point, you still don't you still don't find you. Don't you. You don't deem yourself successful. You're like, I still have more left in the tank. I got a long ways to go. But it's all about fluctuation and understanding. Having that expectation that today, whether a peak or a valley, doesn't have to define me. What do I learn from this moment? How do I cherish these moments? [00:14:37] Speaker A: Right. No, that's. That's so spot on, man. And you're so true about the not seeing your own wins. And, you know, I. I mean, even. Even to the point where you see it. But like, you. Sometimes it's like a false humility. You know, you like, you. You know, you don't wanna. Don't want to seem braggadocious or whatever, and so you kind of like, you know, play, downplay it. When. When, you know, people recognize. I even. I remember. I mean, when I got this job, man, you know, I was like, man, like, I hate even telling people that I. What I do for a living. Like, it don't even seem fair, you know, but, you know, I. But it didn't mean I didn't appreciate it. It's just a matter of just sometimes it's just, you know, even if it's a win, you kind of downplay it. But kind of. Back to your point. Cause that was kind of off on a tangent, but back to your point, man, about, you know, somebody else recognizing it. You know, I really, you know, always related to weight loss, man. I remember going to my job and people not recognizing me because I was remote. And I came in office and, like, people walked by, and then they send me a message on teams. It's like, you in the office today, you know, and to me, I was like, I thought I looked the same. The same pretty much, but it took somebody else seeing it, so. Yeah, totally. [00:15:53] Speaker B: That's both sides of the token, too. Like, you know, like I just said, you know, I. When I was. I gotta. I gotta start doing some math. Quick math here. So when I was like, 30. 30. Yeah, I was around 30. It was, you know, right in the midst of COVID Not me. I was like, 33. Holy cow. I was like, 33. And so this was after. So I did E2M in 2018. My whole family did it in 2018. We did a Bar Moore's, did a Cle. Clean Sweep on the. [00:16:22] Speaker A: On the. [00:16:23] Speaker B: On the. On the cash. On the cash prizes, man. We. We went to town, but. Because when my family goes all in on a Challenge. [00:16:30] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:16:30] Speaker B: Buckle up. Get out the way. And so we went. We went really hard in the paint in 2018, and we pretty much held that same. Same physique and same healthy lifestyle in 2019. But then once 2020 came and. And we went into that funny period of time, I went into a stage of complete darkness. Like, I. I'm a regimented guy. When you strip me from my routine of going to school every day, going to the gym every day, running every day, seeing my kids and my faculty staff, all that, every single day, when you strip me of that routine, you know, I. I really went into a struggle mode. So the year of 2020, I gained. I gained, like, 25, 30 pounds. And I didn't see it until one day I saw it, and it was like, I'll never forget this day. Dwayne is. I. I took a picture, and it's the picture that I share often. You know, I'm sitting there, I got the black shorts, my belly's popping out, man. I'm swollen, but not in a good way, right? I sent the picture to Jeff, and I was like, hey, man, I need your help. And he texted me back this. He goes, you don't need my help. You don't need my help. You already know what to do. Sometimes we think we need a different plan. Sometimes we need. We need a little extra motivation. We think we need all these things. [00:17:47] Speaker A: That's it, right? [00:17:48] Speaker B: You don't. [00:17:49] Speaker A: Yep. That's so. Man, that's on it. I get that message too. You know, I need. I need help. You got the tools, man. Especially if you're an E2M view. If, you know, if you listen, you're not signed up, man. It's a great time to sign up, e2winpremium.com. But if you are in, you have the tools. Like, you know, I get that message so often. Like, you have the tools. They're there, they're ready, they're available, and you know what to do. You know, you've had the success before, you know, So I have to shout out my man Bryant. Bryant Burner. Brian Burner made a post. Might have been. Was it this week or last week? But he made a post, and he pretty much showed, you know, a year's worth of selfies, shirtless selfies, where he was like. He had abs all year. I was like, bro, you are goals. Because I fluctuate so much, man. But it's just a testament of. And. And he. He, you know, big up, big up the team. And, you know, he's like, Y'all gave us the tools. You know, like, you. He literally. He literally was short off, shirt off, shorty ready, year round. Like, December, January. The man had ripped abs, looking good, you know, but he. I mean, and what he said, you know, it impacted me. It was like he said, y'all. Y'all gave us the tools. You know, I'm just so. I'm like, man, I. I need to take advantage of the tools. [00:19:12] Speaker B: Well, we all do, but we think that there's, like, this mystical force out there that we're in search of. Like, we think that, hey, if Brad texts me. If Brad shoots me a message, I'm gonna have the magic sauce. No, no, nobody else can make you do it. That's. That's an internal drive. You got to have the intrinsic values and the intrinsic resources, which you do. You have those tools. And if you don't, you know, seek program like E2M. E2M is like a. It's. It's a nutshell program, right? Like, we have. We get the mental fitness, we get the nutrition boy, we get the fitness, we get the. The cooking. We got everything in one nutshell. I'm sure there's other programs out there. Like, it, maybe. Probably not. I have no idea. But if there is, all you got to do is sign up and then follow along. But it's all internal. It's all within here. You're. It's your mindset, all right? And I. So I heard this Dwayne and I'll close out here pretty soon, but I heard this the other day. A lot of us, you know, we. We fail to create a solid vision. Like, it could be impossible or it seem impossible today of how much money I want to make or how physically fit I want to be or what vacations I want to go to. Like, my. One of my dreams is Dubai. I want to go to Dubai. I mean, I've seen some fascinating things out of Dubai. It's incredible in Dubai, like, they're building beaches, they're building cities in the middle of the desert. It's crazy in Dubai. That's my dream. But you know what? I haven't invested a whole lot of time to. To. To, you know, form an idea or form a vision of what it's going to take to get to Dubai, right? Same thing can be applied for fitness, right? If you want to lose 50 pounds, what's it gonna take, literally? Not just. Not just figuratively. What's it literally going to take for you to lose 50 pounds? It's going to take physical Activity. It's going to take belief. It's going to take nutrition. It's going to take some accountability. It's going to take some really tough work, and it's going to take overcoming adversity and opposition on those tough days. Especially on those tough days. But you have to have the vision. This is where I want to be. That's the first thing you have to do, is create the vision. This is where I want to be. This is what I want to be. This is who I want to be. Before you can do anything, create the vision and then have. Have the blueprint and follow through that blueprint until you hit that. Then once you get there, what's next? [00:21:27] Speaker A: That's right. That's a good close, man. You called it. You called it. Dubai, Next. Next item, meet up in Dubai. We need to make it happen, man. [00:21:42] Speaker B: I'm in. [00:21:42] Speaker A: I know, right? I know. [00:21:44] Speaker B: Create the vision first. Create the vision first, and then we set the sales. [00:21:48] Speaker A: There you go. There you go. All right. We'll do a bad podcast over there, too. [00:21:53] Speaker B: We're going live. If we're. If we're in Dubai, we're going live. Audience, the whole nine. [00:21:58] Speaker A: I love it. All right, Sounds good. Create the vision, man. Create the vision. [00:22:02] Speaker B: Vision first. [00:22:03] Speaker A: Good stuff. All right, y'all. Hey, as we get ready to close this out and you know, we always appreciate you guys listening in, tuning in, commenting, Brad is actually going to grab one of those names from April to. I did. [00:22:18] Speaker B: Okay. [00:22:18] Speaker A: You did already. Okay, yes. [00:22:20] Speaker B: Well, okay, so you know, we're not picking until. Well, yeah, so yeah, as of live. So I already picked a name and we will drop it next podcast, because I'm not gonna about to go look at it right now, actually. [00:22:32] Speaker A: Yeah, no, no, no.
