[00:00:00] Speaker A: What up, what up? What up? Welcome back to the Bad podcast. Brad and the Wayne and man, we're real time now. Brad, just so you know, we real time. We're recording this one week. We're dropping it the following. So man, we super excited about that, man. So Brad, what we talking about? [00:00:16] Speaker B: We're gonna talk about the turtle and the hare. [00:00:20] Speaker A: Oh, I love it. One of my favorite stories. Let's get it. Oh, [00:00:28] Speaker B: are you ready? Are you read. [00:00:44] Speaker A: What it looked like, what it be like, what it do back in here. Another episode of the Bad Podcast, Brad and Duane coming through. All the locations, all the platforms, man, we are here. We're excited. The man said the tortoise in the hair. So I'm excited because he didn't say that in the beginning when we talked. Let's talk about it, man. But before we do, Brad, man, how you feeling? [00:01:05] Speaker B: I'm feeling good, man, you know. So you guys were just at the Citadel this past week, so. Okay, so real time means we're dropping in like four days. [00:01:16] Speaker A: Yes. [00:01:17] Speaker B: Okay. All right. [00:01:18] Speaker A: Very good. [00:01:19] Speaker B: For those that don't know and for those that are brand new here, we always record the previous week. So this always is dropping the Monday typically dropping the Monday after we we record and we typically record on Thursdays or Fridays. So it's always Dwayne and I trying to forecast what's going to happen. But. So you guys were just at the Citadel yesterday? Looked amazing, Looked cold, looked chilly, looked like an early morning. I, I, if I was there, I'd be angry for how early I was getting up in the morning. [00:01:49] Speaker A: Yeah, we had to be at the, we had to be in the, let's call it at 5:15 at the lobby at the hotel. [00:01:57] Speaker B: Like did you guys stay over? Stay, stay overnight? [00:01:59] Speaker A: Yeah, so we, we went down Wednesday, went down Wednesday and then Thursday morning we had to be in the lobby at 5:15 to go to the old Citadel, Jeff's old stomping grounds. [00:02:14] Speaker B: I, I love, had a sense of the old school meetup vibes a little bit, a little darker than. Yeah, than the old days. [00:02:26] Speaker A: Yeah, man. No, it was, it had to had the vibe. The kids were, were cool, excited. I mean it was a change up because they have to do something every day at that time and so they got to do it with us, the select group or whatever. And you know, and to the left of us, man, was the guys in the fatigue pants and white T shirts carrying the log there was all, yeah, they was, they was toting the log around. I was like, yeah, how did they get signed to that? Like, I don't make sure I don't get hit that signature on that line. Yeah, man. So it was an interesting experience. I. I'm not military. My granddad was, but it was just interesting to see that, you know, for college kids, like, this is. This is their. That was their university. And, you know, and. And it's funny because, you know, to think that Jeff had to go through all that, you know, that. That sharp, you know, being up that early and moving, and. And he. He mentioned something. I don't know what it mean, but he was like. He had. He was telling the kids. He's like, you know, I didn't take it as serious as I should have. Is that because I took. I took the tour quite a few times, and everybody was like, oh, so I guess it's like some form of punishment or something. But apparently, you know, he took the tour quite a few times while I said all the alumni would know the shot. Speaking of alumni, man, I know he's a listener, man, but our buddy Tim. Tim, shout out to you, man. Definitely big shout at you, because I don't know why you went without going into the military. That is. Yeah, that's insane. But that. That's what we got going on, man. [00:04:02] Speaker B: Yeah, it looked. It looked amazing. Like I said, it looked chilly, but it got. It did get me thinking about just, you know, where E2M was, where it is, where it's going, and a lot of people that are outside the E2M box, they look inside the E2M box, and they're like, man, it must be nice to have grown this company to a certain level. And, you know, back in 2018, when I did the program, there was less than 100 people in the entire E2M community. And people don't remember those days. They. They look at the. The finish lines, they look at the. The product that is today. And some people forget that there was, you know, there was some downtime, There was some real slow progression. And for me, I'm going through that personally right now. I just want to go to bed at night and wake up and. And have £15 extra on me because I'm. I'm. I'm struggling with that. Ever since that bike ride, I've been going through a couple of struggles. And I'll tell you what, Dwayne, you know, being 10 months of training on that bike and being hunched over, as of recent, I. I've been having tingling in the hands, tingling in the knees, tingling in the. In the Lower extremities, I got, I got to get checked out. I got to be, you know, a little bit more proactive in that sense. But all this to say I spent a lot of time on the bike and right now I'm trying to rush the process, right? I'm trying to get to that, that temporary finish line as fast as I possibly can. And this is one of the worst mindsets to have. It's that, you know, it's the shortcut mentality, it's the cut the corner mentality. And although it seems as if it's going to get us there so much faster, we need to start adopting the mentality of slow down, take the hardest path that you can, that you can find, go the, go the long way, go the distance, climb the steepest peaks, you know, lift the heavier weights, slow down the process. That's what's going to make this journey worthwhile. Because the longer that you're in it, the more you're going to learn, the more lessons you're going to extract, the further you're going to go and the more you're going to sustain. That's, that's something that's been a topic of discussion for as, as long as time for E2M goes. This isn't sustainable. Well, it is sustainable if you slow down and you learn what the practical tools are. I ran into this lady, I'm all over the map here, do it lady, a couple of weeks ago and she's like, I haven't done E2M in three years, but because of you guys, I don't need E2M. She has all the tools, she has all the resources when she, if and when she needs to come back. But guys, our old eight week program was designed to teach you, right, what it took to lose weight, what it took to hydrate, what it took to move your body and establish discipline, what it took to go through hardship and overcome those things. And when you can slow down and you know, just indulge what we are trying to teach, you may never need it to them again. I'm not saying no, no, hey, I'm not saying bail on us. I'm not saying vacate the premises. I'm just saying you will learn some of the tools and you will need us less, right? So extract some lessons, slow down the process. That's how I wanted to kick this things off. Because I'm frustrated. I want to get to my finish line just as fast as somebody maybe that wants to lose £50 or you know, do a marathon. [00:07:27] Speaker A: Listen I'm glad you got it off your chest, brother. [00:07:31] Speaker B: A lot of weight, A lot of weight on the chest this morning. [00:07:36] Speaker A: No, man, listen, you, you're saying what a lot of people saying. You know, we talk about this all the time on here. You know, the number one is, you know, weight loss is, you know, it can be a faster process than muscle building, just the way that we're created. But I, it, it led me down mentally to something I've been thinking about sharing that I want to figure out how and you guys get it first. A lot of people saw my transformation and they saw when I started going to the gym and doing the gym workouts, you know, because back when we had the three day gym workouts, you know, because I did like everybody, you know, I reached out to the coaches, hey, I think I met my, you know, I think I met my, my goal. I want to go further. And they said, hey, you want to, you know, get you a little cheap gym membership and you know, start doing the gym workouts. And I started doing that and I saw a really good results, you know, and I saw the muscle and this is the thing. So I saw muscle development and I saw, you know, kind of like an unveiling type thing. But reason why I'm, I'm tucking in on this path. A lot of people came into E2M because of me. A lot of people relate to my before and you know, they went through the process and they lost the weight. But then they look and it's like, well, my chest and my arms, they're not like yours. Here's the thing, here's what nobody, this is what everybody missed. And I missed it too, Brad, because I was like, yeah, do more of this, do more of that. But I forgot from 20, 2017 to 2019, while I was still big, I was lifting weights every day. So I built my, I was bulking unknowingly. I wasn't bulking. I was bulk. There was no end going. So. So before I fixed my diet, I. Because, you know, back at, back in them days, you know, you watching YouTube, Jim Stepani and all them guys. And so I used to print out the workouts and I was weight training. I got many videos of me lifting weights for three years straight. But I didn't know anything about nutrition. I didn't have my food together. You know, I was trying to figure it out. So that what people saw after my weight loss and I got back in the gym and fired those muscles back off is a result of what I did two years before the weight loss game. And, and unfortunately. And that's. That goes back to the time, Brad, like, people. Guys were trying to figure out why I. I did the eight weeks. Like Dwayne, I did two rounds. Now I'm in the gym. Why I don't look like that? It's because I had a season of lifting that you don't even know about. And then we. Then we can't even get into genetics. Brad. Like that. That's a whole nother conversation. Because some people naturally have big arms, Some people naturally have big chest. Some people naturally have, you know, more defined abs, things like that. But I've been trying to figure out how I want to communicate that in a real one day. Y' all guys are getting it first. But, you know, you can't look at the end picture and what you know about me and feel like, okay, if I do exactly what he did from this frame right here, I'll get it in this time frame. I'm sorry. You won't. There was several years and even before that, Brad, because here's another thing that I forgot. A lot of people after their weight loss journey, and then they, you know, start going to the gym. This is their first time going to the gym. You know what I mean? Like, they didn't take P.E. in high school. They didn't take weight training in high school. This is their first time. So you're starting from day one, Ground zero. So I, that's something I, I hope. I mean, it's not what you want to hear, but I hope it just makes you feel better. Like, you know, like, because, you know, my PE Teacher, like, we couldn't. We couldn't take art and, and, and all. And, and theater. He said, yo, if you're on the football team, your fourth period is weight training. I don't care what else is. I don't care what else is available. Fourth period is weight training. If you're on a football team, we could. I never took a class of art, bro, like, in high school. Like, and, and so that's the foundation. High school weight training, weight training with my cousins, weight training when I was, you know, £250 and still lifting, you know, getting stronger but not losing weight and then bringing it back now. So that's the difference. That's, that's. That's some. Somewhat of a foundation for people to understand how building muscle works. It's not an overnight thing. It is a very slow train. But if you stay on it, it's a good result at the end. [00:12:32] Speaker B: Yeah, no There's a lot packed in there and a lot of people. Yeah, I was, I'm a similar story. You know, prior to Covid, you know, and prior to my first E2M eight week challenge, I was lifting weights every day, same as you, you know, and I was not watching what I was consuming. Both, both physically, like what I was eating, but consuming with my mind too. Like, I was just consuming a bunch of things. And when you are just kind of lost and you don't dial in on specifics like the nutrition, it's very easy to spiral out of control. And, you know you're going to have that same transformation just on the other side of the coin. You're going to look in the mirror one day and be like, whoa, who, who are you? My goodness. And I, I did that. You did that. There's millions of billions of people that do that every year. And that's why January 1st is, is the most. It's, it's the biggest day in the fitness industry because people throughout 365 days, they transform themselves just in a reverse effect and they wake up on January 1st like, what have I been doing? And it's, it's, it's because you may be investing all your time in the fitness space, but it's that nutrition piece that you're missing out on. You're not dialed in on what you're consuming physically with what you eat. You're not, you're not dialed in on what you're consuming mentally and emotionally. And a lot of people, including me, you know, we're addicted to this convenience thing. Like I, I was also getting on YouTube. I was also going to bodybuilding.com and I was printing off the, the, the workout to make me look like that. And you know, when, when you are, when you are hip hopping around from this program to that program and going back and forth because you want that convenience and you look at these individuals and you're like, that's exactly what I want to look like. This is the program. Okay, I'm going to do this for three or four days. And then, and then I'm like, oh, no, this is what I want to look like. Okay, I'll do that for three or four days. When you are all over the map like that, you have zero discipline. You have to really hone in on a six, seven, eight week program and, and just stick it out for those six, seven and eight weeks and don't expect any transformation overnight. And I've been big on this. Duane. Appreciation over expectation. If you can Wake up in the morning and move your body, man. Appreciate that. And don't have an expectation that you're going to have a big breakthrough. Your breakthrough, it may be. I. I pushed a button there and it muted there. That was weird technology. [00:15:19] Speaker A: This is old school, Brad. Boy, what is going on? Right? [00:15:23] Speaker B: I know, right? Lost my train of thought. But, you know, when. When you have the expectation that you're going to transform overnight, all that really does is it puts a lot of pressure on you. You have those. You have those expectations that you feel you should live up to, and it's going to lead to frustration, which ultimately leads to discouragement. And. And, you know, you're going to. You're going to give up. [00:15:47] Speaker A: Don't be so obvious. Yeah, you're going to give up. [00:15:56] Speaker B: No, I think there's a lot packed in here and, you know, we could talk about this for days, but this [00:16:00] Speaker A: might be a part two, man. [00:16:02] Speaker B: Yeah, no, I don't think it needs to be. I think it just, you know, you. You have to slow down, take the hard path, and embrace appreciation over expectation. [00:16:14] Speaker A: I like that. That's the ending, too, man. Good stuff, man. Hey, till next time, we are out of here. I think.
