[00:00:00] Speaker A: What up, what up, what up? Welcome back to another episode of the Bad Podcast. Brad and Dwayne Bradley, what are we talking about today, man?
[00:00:09] Speaker B: Success, man. I got something from Winston Churchill today. Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.
[00:00:18] Speaker A: All right, Winston, I like your cigars too. Let's get it.
Are you ready?
[00:00:25] Speaker B: Are you ready?
[00:00:40] Speaker A: What it look like, what it be like, what it do? Back in here, another episode of the Bad Podcast. Brad and Dwayne, super excited, man, coming to you with another podcast episode, man. We got a good one. Started out with a Churchill quote. You know, we gonna hit him hard.
But before we get into it, man, have to bring you kind of a, a sponsorship type thing, man. E2 and Premium is launching that Fusion and Brad is shaking his head because he's, he's one of the instructors of Fusion and he's gonna be walking bow legged for a couple days, uh, because of it. But no real talk if you don't know what it is. E2M premium.com check it out. We have body part specific workouts as well as, uh, programs for glutes, vacation body, lean body program. And we just added a brand new class. Oh, let me spin trade classes. And we just added a brand new class called Cardio Fusion, which is a fusion between tread and the floor or spin in the floor.
And it's, we're really excited about it. So if you hadn't signed up already, please go check it out and, and, and, and make sure all that hard work Brad putting in is getting put to use, man. So Brad, you got anything to say about that before we jump?
[00:01:51] Speaker B: I, I have a couple things to say and the first thing that to say is I just did one of my first recordings and it was a treadmill strength training circuit, one of the cardio fusion classes. This is the style of workout that I used to love in college and I loved in my early 20s. And I'm just excited to get back into it because like, this is, like this is where I live, man, this combination of cardio and strength training. But I did my first training session the other day and if anybody says it was easy, I will personally fly to your hometown and I will do a workout with you in your own basement, your own living room and own gym because you are doing something improper. Because I'm telling you folks, but Dwayne already said it, Bow legged is the, is the daily word because I'm going to be walking Bojangles like it today. Holy cats, man. But it is a great addition to E2M premium.
[00:02:40] Speaker A: No, absolutely, absolutely. That's, you know, it's exciting.
You know, you guys know I, I don't, I don't tread on the danger side, so I'll let y' all handle that. Y' all, when you do that workout, when it drops, when you do that workout, make sure you hashtag the bad podcast and even even hashtag bowlegged.
[00:02:58] Speaker B: Bowlegged Brad.
[00:02:59] Speaker A: Yeah, bowlegged Brad, man. So for sure. And before we get into it, Brad, I also wanted to shout out a comment left last week. Ms. Painting with the Queen.
Painting with the Queen. Actually, she was following along, man. The first thing she said, consistency is key. I rest every Sunday. The next thing you said, you gotta sleep with hunger. Oh, man, no sugar, but butter on grits. And. And then she said, that's not chicken and waffles. That's. That's some fried chicken. And make some real pancake mix. Oh, no, it's all good. For real. We don't get cheat meals, right, Texas Pete.
She was following the conversation. She was like typing as we was talking. Shout out to painting with the Queen. We appreciate you leaving those comments that boost the videos, man. Help it get more views. So continue to do that. We appreciate you, we love you and, and everybody that commented. We do appreciate it, man. So, Brad, let's talk about it, man. Failure after failure. But yeah, you keep going, talk about it.
[00:04:01] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, I want to talk about success. So, so this is dating me a little bit. So three or four years ago, when I was early on in E2M, I did a live, and it was pretty probably my most viewed ever, ever workout, because I talked about the six ingredients for the breakfast of champions. And it talks to. And it speaks to success. And the first one is grit. So I'm going to talk about the six ingredients of, of success, the first one being grit. Now, when you look at failure, you know, a lot of people have this idea of success. I, I, I, I, I'm always going to win. Well, Tom Brady didn't always win. Wayne Gretzky didn't always win. Babe Ruth didn't always win. Nobody always wins.
But going from one failure to the next to the next with enthusiasm, that's grit. You know, having the courage to continue on when you get knocked down. One of the other quotes that I was reading, and this is an old one, but get knocked down seven times, get up eight, you have to get up one more time, then you get knocked down.
So the first ingredient is grit. Having the courage, having the confidence to get back up with enthusiasm one failure to the next. And you said something about his cigars. You said something about Churchill cigars.
[00:05:09] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I just want to clarify. He's saying grit, not grits. So.
But no, no, Churchill, man. You know, he. That there's actually a length of a cigar called a Churchill. And that's why I said, you know, I like the like. So there's a robusto, you know, maduro, and then, you know, the Churchills, and they're like extra long. He was known for long cigars. So that's. That's that little. Little sad nerd out moment for me.
[00:05:41] Speaker B: Yeah. My. My. My old man would know that. My grandfather would know that they're big on the stoves. I, you know, I've talked about it before. I. I used to hit the stogie, boy, but I don't like putting smoke nothing in these lungs. That, man. If. If it's not. Yeah. If it's not good, man.
[00:05:57] Speaker A: No, no, I feel so. So to clarify for the people that's listening and for you, you don't. You don't put the smoke in your lungs, brother. It's. It's just.
[00:06:06] Speaker B: It goes in. It goes in. It goes in.
Pause times two, times two. Right, Right.
Okay, so now that we're talking about this, this is actually a perfect segue. So ingredient number two is discipline. And for me, so, like, when I was. When I was 18, I. I would smoke stogies all the time. And I know you don't. You don't inhale them, but I. That smoke's in the air. It's going to.
[00:06:31] Speaker A: Fair enough.
[00:06:32] Speaker B: But it's. But it's your personal code of behaviors and your. Your personal code of. Of. Of routines and habits. And. And a lot of people have. Everybody. Not a lot everybody has a code of behaviors. Everybody has a habit. Like some people, one of their code of behaviors is every Friday night, I go out with the girls. Like, for me, every Thursday night in the summer, I'm golfing. Every Friday, Every Thursday night in the winter, I'm climbing with my brother. Like, I have a code of behaviors that I stick by. When I wake up in the morning, it's coffee, it's water. And that's all I. That's all I do. And that's all I take in. Consume until noon because I. I do still do fasting. I. I don't need anything until new. That's my personal code of behaviors. Is that the perfect way? No. No, it's not. Because not every. Not two people have the exact same code of behaviors. Like, nobody has the same code of behaviors. I think that's a. I think that's a nice little segments to take from this podcast is, you know, we. We promoted 16, eight, you know, fasting. You know, the fasting routine.
And, and does 168 work for everybody? No. Like, once you lose a certain amount. Amount of weight and you're at your ideal body weight, like, fasting isn't necessary. Is it good for digestion? Is it good for the internal, you know, your organs and. And all that? Yeah, absolutely. But it's not for everybody. I have friends that are heavy, heavy, heavy lifters. They can't fast. They. They have to eat too much. You, Eric, like, you guys, you. You lift heavy. You need to eat. You know, fasting isn't for everybody. So you got to have your own personal code of behaviors.
[00:08:11] Speaker A: Yeah, no, I, man, I gotta hit three or four things on that.
So first with fasting, because. Okay, let me go back to code of behaviors. Let me cross my fingers for fasting. Code of behavior. So what we did with E2M is we helped you create a code of behaviors.
And a lot of people that didn't have any. I mean, they had some. Brett, like I said, they had some. Whether it was pizza, you know. But we try to help you create new code of behaviors. And so with that.
Is that the only way to lose weight? No. Is that the only way you're going to, you know, get it? No, but it's a. We, We. We showed you the roadmap, and that's why a lot of people were successful. The things you, you can keep certain things, you can get rid of certain things. Whatever works best for you.
So I always like to throw that out there, but I literally got a message yesterday about intermittent fasting. Someone that's a client that was actually thinking about competing asked me if I still did it. And the thing about intermittent fasting, and I think, you know, it's kind of our fault. Brad.
It is.
It's a tool. It's not a magic pill. Intermittent fasting does not. Intermittent fasting within itself does not cause you to lose weight. What caused you to lose weight is reducing the calorie intake you. You have in 24 hours. How do we do that? We limit the time that you eat so that you can't eat. But so much within that window, it's not like, you know, of course, it's good to reset the digestive, all of that. Like, you people don't understand you naturally, if you think about It. If. If you eat, you know, on a schedule, you naturally intermittent fast when you sleep, you know, if you get eight hours of sleep, there you go, Boom. You got. You got eight hours of your body, you know, rest and digest and all of those things. But sometimes, you know, it gets. It gets looked at as if it's the magic pill, the intermittent fasting. It's not. It's pretty much what you know, because Jeff is genius, man. He. He. He's like, if. If I give you the parameters and you only eat in this window, then your calorie intake is going to decrease, which is going to put you in a deficit. You put yourself in a deficit, you get a little bit of movement, but, boom, magic happens. So the magic is an intermittent fasting. The magic is a combination of understanding the calorie intake and pretty much. And what we did, Brad, is we. We made it so they didn't have to figure that out.
[00:10:24] Speaker B: Right?
[00:10:24] Speaker A: Made it easy because now I have to figure it out. Like, I'm. I'm way. I'm weighing egg whites, you know, in a cup on a scale, you know, because I'm doing macro. So, you know, I'm. I'm count. I'm weighing leaves of spinach, you know.
[00:10:37] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:10:38] Speaker A: You know, and so what E2M does, you know, 28 motivate it. It takes out the guesswork. It gives you. It puts you in a natural deficit. Because I always remember, like, people's like, man, my husband is 6, 8, 300 something. This is not enough food. Well, I mean, he can survive off of, you know, three meals a day.
[00:10:55] Speaker B: Promise you.
I promise you it is.
[00:10:57] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. And so it's so funny because that same couple, you know, they saw success, like, he lost a ton of weight, and, you know, they were happy. But it's just so funny, just the mindset, you know, and how, you know, Jeff literally took the guess workout, where all you have to do is follow his instructions and you're going to lose weight. But like you mentioned, once you get to that place where you, hey, I am in my spot. I like where I'm at. You can, you can. You can open up that window. You can take away the window, you can add. Add some. Some healthy cars. All of those things, man, is the bigger picture, man. So let me get off my salt soapbox, man, because that, that really, you know, it's so fresh in my mind because the lady, she's like, I'm thinking about competing. I wonder if you were still intermittent fasting. I was like, I'm actually doing it indirectly, you know, like, because once I hit my macros, I don't anything for the rest of the day, no matter what time that is.
[00:11:47] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:11:47] Speaker A: You know, and I was like, so I guess technically on intermittent fasting. And then I explained to it just like I just mentioned that, you know, intermittent fasting isn't the fix, it's just how many calories you consume in 24 hours.
[00:11:58] Speaker B: Yeah. And like you said, it's just, it's just a roadmap that simplified, you know what kind of. Because everybody that's in the fitness game is on some sort of calorie counter or calorie formula. Right. Intermittent fasting. Exactly. Like you said, it just takes the guesswork out of it. And it, it all boils down to the discipline that you have. Right. You don't, you don't have to intermittent fast. You don't have to count calories. You don't have. Okay, you don't have to eat so much of this and so much of that. All you gotta do is have the discipline to watch me eat. You know, and if you have, if you have the discipline in the code of behavior set in place, you're gonna be successful. And that, that, that's applied to everything in life. Right. And, and when, when you're long on this journey, I'm just gonna transition naturally here.
Patience, the toleration of delay. Like so many people wanna rush through the process and they want to get to the product, they want to get to the finish line as fast as they can. But those finish line faster than those that are taking their time. Falling in love, like getting fascinated with why I have to do this and why I have to do that in the process. Like, they don't stay there, but those that take their time.
The woman that I worked with for years, her name's Kathy Dearing. Shout out to Kathy. She would always say to the kids, it's not how fast, it's how well. And if you're, if you're, if you're engaged, if you're embracing that idea of not how fast, how well, what's happening is you're learning about why I have to do this and why in, in the, you know, so I'm gonna just talk about Ozempic and, and things of that nature.
I'm okay, like I am in support of, of those drugs or, or the weight loss surgery. If somebody's 500 pounds, like it's gonna take them 100 years to, to lose 200 pounds or whatever, whatever their ideal goal is, or ideal weight is.
So if you have to have that temporary fix to lose the initial weight, I'm okay with that. I support that. But with that being said, the faster you get to that destination of losing the £200, the less you're gonna, the less you're gonna learn. Like, it's just like we talked about this. Anybody that, not anybody, but a lot of people that win the lottery, they don't sustain that because they don't value what it took to make 10 minutes.
[00:14:24] Speaker A: A lot of them die. A lot of them die.
[00:14:27] Speaker B: Yeah, there's a lot of pressure when you have that kind of money. There's a lot of pressure when you have that kind of success once you get to the top. And that pressure is at an all time high. If you learn how to get there, okay, probably stay there. It's like a lot of NFL kids, right?
[00:14:40] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:14:40] Speaker B: What happens? They go bankrupt, they go broke. They, they, they, you know, and the reason that they got, because when they were 18 and mom and dad only made, you know, 50,000 combined, but when they got to 19, 20, 21 years old and all of a sudden they were making $20 million a year, it's hard to handle that pressure. So you have to have patience, you have to have that toleration of delay before you get to your finish line.
[00:15:05] Speaker A: Absolutely. So, you know, it's funny, you, I, you probably could finish my sentence on this. When we used to post before and afters, what is the number one comment that people put?
[00:15:16] Speaker B: How long did it take to get every, Every time.
[00:15:22] Speaker A: Every time. How long did it take? How many rounds? Like every time.
And that goes back to what you said. Like people, they want fast results. We live in a Amazon same day delivery culture, man. And so they want fast results. And you know, those, those weight loss drugs are a way to get fast results. But like you said, you don't.
And then that is like, I know several people that had surgery and then, you know, they, they didn't learn what it takes to sustain it, man. And so I have to plug each of them here, man. Because we're a weight loss drug partnering company. We're actually going to do a whole campaign on it because we know you're going to need strength, you're going to need to build your muscles after you lose the weight because if you don't, then, you know, other issues can happen, you know, or you, you know, you can, it can revert back, you know, if you ever stop. So if you are on Ozempic or, or any of Those things we even have. You can check our YouTube channel. We have videos talking about, talking about the drug. Jeff did a video talking about how we're in support of it. So definitely want to make that clear. But like Brad mentioned, you know, when you get there fast, man, if you don't, you know, because, because sometimes you, you can't help but get there fast, and you have to learn after you get there, you know? And I even think about, you know, just the success of this company. Like, you know, we, we move pretty fast, you know, and we, we learn. I say all the time, man. We, we building this plane in the air. Like, we, you know, so sometimes it's not up to you for your success. Sometimes it happens really, really fast. But you have to, you know, put yourself in a place of learning and a place of, you know, let, while, while I'm here, let me get some understanding, you know, and then, you know, a lot of people, they don't, they don't appreciate that, that journey. You talk about the patient aspect, they don't appreciate that journey. I have to shout out. I can't even remember her name, but she posts in a group, and her, her slogan or hashtag is Turtle Power. Because she say, hey, slow and steady. That's how she's been doing her. And she has a great before and after. And she was like, what does turtle power mean? Turtle Power means I walk. That's all I can do right now. You know, I drink water. I'm not perfect on my meals and, like, but every day I'm trying, I'm showing up. And she called it Turtle power, man. So apologize. If you listen to podcasts, I can't remember your name, but I love seeing her post because it's just a testament of, you know, because we, we can give you rapid results. That's what, that's the business we're in. But there are people and, and even, you know, even, even in my personal journey, when you take your time and you go. Because even prep. Prep is, you know, 21 weeks, you know, it's a, it's a slow, grueling process. You know, when you go that route, it really, it builds your patience and, and you, you learn along the way, man. So that's, that's a really good one. So. Yeah, all right, I'll let you go to the next one.
[00:18:12] Speaker B: No. Yeah, in, you know, I, I, I trained for my iron man for 10 months, almost an entire year. Like, that's a long time. And you just want that day to be upon you so fast. But if, if you sign up for an Iron man tomorrow, and here's the start line, here's the finish line right in front of you. Presented. Are you going to be able to, to fit? Probably not. Like right now. If, if Eric told you, hey, show is tomorrow. Like, yay, it's here. Celebration. Oh, wait, I ain't ready for that. And that's, that's how it is in life. And that's how it is.
[00:18:43] Speaker A: Seen a couple guys that look like that's what happened to him. No shade. No shade.
[00:18:50] Speaker B: Yeah, but, but that's the idea. Like that, that's a real life example. Like, hey, sure, you want your finish line? You want your results? Well, here's the, here's the game day. Like, like Tom Brady, he would always say, we didn't win super bowl on Super Bowl Sunday. We would always win it in August, we'd always win it in July. Like when nobody was practicing. That's when we win it.
And, and just to tie into the next one. Persistence, right? Persistency. Taking action despite your adversity. Building that stamina throughout the year. Building the stamina throughout the process. Like I'm said, man, July, June, July, August. Whoops. You there?
[00:19:25] Speaker A: I'm here. Yeah, you here too.
[00:19:29] Speaker B: My screen closed out. I don't know what happened. Anyways, I was weird. June, July and August are when you win championships. Like, I didn't cross the finish line at my Iron man on that Saturday morning or that Saturday evening. Really.
I, I, I did that in January. I did that in February, March, April, May, and so on and so forth. So building that persistency, building that stamina along the way to keep trying in despite all adversity, despite all opposition.
[00:20:00] Speaker A: Yeah, no, no, I, you, you, you. I don't have to expound on that one. You hit that one out of the park, man, because you know that, that's when it's built, you know? Right, right in the off season.
[00:20:09] Speaker B: Well, I'm gonna tie the last two in together. Fortitude and self belief. So fortitude is having the mindset to face all these adversities with courage and confidence and enthusiasm. Just like Winston said. He said going from one failure to the next with confidence, courage, enthusiasm. I call it alacrity. That's the zest that you have for life. And a lot of people, man, in, in our generation, Dwayne, we kind of grew up with that idea where fitness can't be fun. And the reason that we have that, like, in the back of our minds is because if you screw up in PE, drop down, give me 20. Start running until I tell you to stop. Go, you know, go do an exercise. Go do something physically active until you're done. And that's why we, we had this idea that it can't be fun, but fortitude is having the mindset to face the hard thing, to go through fitness, to write a book, to get on stage and do it with courage, do it with confidence, and then having the self belief, Self belief is the foundation of all success. Having the confidence in your course of actions doesn't matter what your friends say about you. Don't matter what your, your family says about you. Having the course of actions that align with where you want to go and who you want to be.
[00:21:20] Speaker A: No, that's good. Those, those two pair together. Well, actually, yeah, sure.
[00:21:25] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. They go hand in hand.
[00:21:26] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, and I, I guess what I'll say as we get ready to close on that aspect of it, you know, the, the belief itself, man, you know, that, that, that is day one, you know, that is like, okay, this is what I'm about to do. You know, I don't know how, I don't know where, I don't know when, but this is what I'm about to do, man. It starts. That's where. That's, that's where it starts.
[00:21:50] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:21:50] Speaker A: You know, and, and then, then, then the off season happens because you, you know, you, you have the mindset to do it, man. So really good, brother. I'm, I like the way you t.
Made that run smooth, man. But, but no, I, I'm, I'm. I like this episode, man, because I really feel like that, you know, it.
There's a lot of good nuggets for sure, but just the way that we can. You can have the keys to success. You know, you, you mentioned the steps, and there's things you can apply and, and start your own journey wherever you are out there.
[00:22:24] Speaker B: Applicable steps for sure. And, and I want everybody to recognize this and, and really take this one in because success is, is inside of you. Like, everybody has strength, everybody has greatness within them. And it could be dormant, but it is there. But also weakness lives inside of you too. And you know, we all have that internal voice of weakness saying, hey, you can't do it. You're not strong enough, you're not fast enough, you're not beautiful enough, you're not. You're not smart enough. We have that voice of weakness and it lives within, within us. How do you silence that voice? Action and reps, plain and simple. Take action and rep it and rep it and rep it. I heard it one time. Do it 10,000 times. And then tell that internal voice, tell me I can't do something. Do it 10,000 times. And then tell me I can't. And once you do something 10,000 times, there ain't nothing that can stop you.
[00:23:10] Speaker A: That's how we're gonna end it right there, man. Till next time. Yo, we out.
