[00:00:02] Speaker A: What up, what up, what up? Welcome back to the Bad Podcast. Brad and Wayne in here with my brother Brad. Take two. Oh, man. What page you turning to today, brother? [00:00:12] Speaker B: Page 178. We're going to talk about tools to rebounding and rejuvenating the fire. Refueling the fire, if you will. All right, so page 178. Acknowledging my fear was the first step towards liberation. In times of struggle, the uncertainty we feel can often magnify our challenges, making it all too easy to. To believe that escape is impossible. But in that moment of reflection, I learned the importance of resilience and the necessity of striving to illuminate the shadows surrounding me. With each breath, I took ownership of my fears and began to turn my attention towards the steps I could take, no matter how small. I understood that breaking free from the dark room would take time, effort, in an unwavering commitment to seek the light. [00:00:53] Speaker A: That boy deep, yo. Let's get it. Are you ready? [00:00:59] Speaker B: Are you ready? [00:01:15] Speaker A: What it looked like, what it be like, what it do? Back in here, another episode of the Bad podcast. Brad and Wayne, man, super excited always to get behind the microphone, my brother Brad. Twinning and winning was the quote that we said on our first take. But we're gonna see it on this one. Oh, man, we're super excited, man. Shout out to everybody that's showing love and leaving messages on YouTube. And we see you, man, we appreciate you. And I want to read one of them real quick. Our good friend Beth. You know, we know Beth. I better say great message. Makes me think of my 39 minute PR in MBM. Love spending time with you both this past weekend. Shout out to Beth. We got the hang out with her in the Columbia area, so. Yeah, for sure, man. So, Brad, what you got to say before we jump right in, man? [00:02:03] Speaker B: Well, now that you're kind of shouting out some people that are listening, I do remember who gave us the review a couple weeks ago. It was our guy Timothy. That positive review, that five star. And then this past week, Terry Washington, our guy down in Atlanta, he. He gave us a five star as well. So shout out to you guys, both of you. Hit me up in my email, guys, Hit me up my email. Brad. Brad, eager to run the number two run.com and I'll get you hooked up with something fun and exciting. But guys, we're talking about actionable steps, actionable tips today to sort of reignite the fire. All right? Did I just go out? I might make. [00:02:42] Speaker A: No, you're good. [00:02:46] Speaker B: Yeah, Actionable steps. And now now my. My mind's wanted distraction, right? So, yeah, let's. Let's talk about distraction, man. Sometimes we get distracted in life, and. And there's so much hustle and bustle and commotion in noise, and as soon as we get distracted, what do we do? We look lateral. We're here, and. And we sort of get knocked off the path. And. And you have to have the expectation that you're gonna get knocked off the path. You have to have that expectation that not everything is going to align. More days than not, the stars are not going to align. So let's talk about actionable step number one that I take oftentimes. All right, Revisit your goals. What is your. What is your main goal? You have to have those milestones, mile markers, all those small boys. But what is your main goal? What is your primary goal? And that's the first step that I always take when I start to drift, if you will, or get distracted, if you will. You revisit that goal. Dwayne, you had a goal of getting on the grandest stage as. As far as, you know, the physique game. I. I did an iron, man. I've done full marathons. I've done half marathons. I've wrote books. You know, we. We do these hard things in our lives. [00:03:56] Speaker A: Yep, we sure do do these hard things. One of those hard things for me is going to be editing this podcast. [00:04:05] Speaker B: Golly. I gotta figure something out, man. [00:04:07] Speaker A: This. [00:04:08] Speaker B: This is just bone crushing. But where. I don't know where I cut out. [00:04:14] Speaker A: Oh, man, you're just talking about doing difficult things in our lives, man, which is true. You know, there's a lot of stuff that we have to do that we. You know, it's the. I think there's a book, man. And don't quote me on this, but it's like, you know, eat the frog. Like, let the first thing you do be the hard thing, man. Like, eat the frog first, you know, before you do anything else, you know, and that's. That's. That actually, that ties into, you know, routine and things like that, you know, task. There's a. I do know this exercise where you have. You have big, big rocks and you got pebbles and you have sand, and they give a device. The vase of us. Depends on what part of the country you're from. And you have to put. [00:04:56] Speaker B: Sounds fancy. [00:04:57] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. All three inside of it, man. And so, you know, the first thing you put is the big thing. The hard thing is the. The rocks. Put those in first. Then you put the Pebbles in and the sand goes. The easy stuff go. But that metaphor just talks about, look, tackling that big thing first, man, and not being afraid. Like I had said, man, we didn't do it on purpose. But you know, something that you fear and you chase because that goes along with your. With your quote from the book. You know, just embracing that fear and not letting it distract you, not letting it, you know, stop you, or not letting it even, you know, delay you, but embracing it and keep it moving forward with your journey. [00:05:33] Speaker B: Yeah. 100. You know, and sometimes, you know, just to tie into what you're saying, a lot of times we start to focus on all the things we can't do, and we don't focus on the things we can do. In that quote that I was reading out of the book, it's like, just focus on that step that you can perform. Like, that one step you can execute. Focus there. Not. Not over here. You can't bench 225 pounds today. That's okay. But you can bench press 200 pounds. You can't run five miles a day, but you can run one mile. Like, start focusing on those things that you. Not you, maybe, but you can win. I saw. I saw the head. Not. But focus on the things that you can do. So step one, actionable. Step number one is revisit your goal and really highlight what you want to accomplish. The second step. So, D, I'll be transparent. And everybody that's listening at home right now, I'm downloading or uploading one of my lives, and my computer keeps glitching out. So I keep on thinking I'm losing signal, and I think that's what's going on. Actionable step number two is accountability. [00:06:39] Speaker A: Right. [00:06:43] Speaker B: Distraction. Get accountability, man. [00:06:47] Speaker A: And. [00:06:47] Speaker B: And, you know, we talk about this so often when we have a meetup. Oftentimes the people that show up to the meetups are not the ones that need to be at the meetups. It's the ones that are in dark corners, the ones that have sort of lost themselves, lost their drive, lost their enthusiasm. Those are the people that need to come to these meetups. So we'll be in New Jersey on July 19th. If you're listening to this and you see somebody or, you know, somebody that's facing struggle or facing some sort of opposition in their life, get them there. Because, you know, between the coaches, between your. Your workout partners, between your, you know, just our. Our podcast fam. When you come to these workouts, man, that. Having that accountability for you, D. You have. Eric, you have Coach Eric, like, that's your guy, and you see him every other week, but you talk to him all the time. You know, I. I have people that my. In my life. I got my guy, Brent, Rebecca, like, I talk to these runners all the time about, hey, what. What do you do in this moment? What are you doing to overcome this. This mental block? What are you doing to overcome this obstacle? And when you can lean on your friends and your family and people that are in your sphere, it's going to make it. It's not going to make it easier, but you can lean on those people. [00:07:54] Speaker A: Yep. Yeah. No, absolutely. You know, that. That is. That's spot on as far as, like, you know, being able to have someone. You know, the. The old song is everybody needs somebody sometimes, all the time. Yeah, man. Yeah. But no, that. That's so real, you know, and I think about just, you know, especially when it comes to. I mean, I guess even with running, man, it can seem like a solo sport. Like, you know, we both play basketball, we both play, you know, you play hockey, you know, that you. We involved in football, you can feel the team aspect of it. But when you talk about running or you talk about, you know, even bodybuilding, a lot of times you feel isolated and you feel, you know, separated during. During the. The grind side. And, you know, and that. That time is when you do. When you need somebody the most, you know, when you need that extra, you know, extra set of eyes, word of encouragement, you know, somebody saying something positive. And it's super important that you. You find. Find those people, find those people in your life. And especially when you're dealing with that kind of, you know, just that kind of preparation, it just. It's a. It's a different mindset because I. I remember, you know, in those latter weeks of prep, and I felt like a lone wolf. Like I was, you know, wake up, eat, you know, kill the gym, you know, like. Like I was just in the wilderness, you know, but, you know, having somebody that's going through it, I have to shout out, my man Lee. Lee is actually a soldier in Fayetteville that's also one of Eric's clients. And, yeah, he's also a client of Eric. And so, like, Lee, you know, we would meet up at the gym and, you know, just kind of complain about being hungry and tired and cold all at the same time. But it was just somebody that, you know, that you can lean on a little bit. Man, when times get tough like that. [00:09:41] Speaker B: Mm. Lone lean wolf is what I like. You know, I talk about this quite often in a lot of my lives, because being a virtual fitness program, like it's not going to a gym, right? You're talking about Lee, and, and you actually have that physical connection with him. But for, for a lot of us, you know, being a virtual platform and being in the podcast world, just being in, in today's society, like, you don't always have that connection physically with somebody. So, you know, with this virtual program, it's people. Because you do feel lonely. It's a, It's a lonely road out there, and you feel as if, man, I'm traveling out here by myself. And, and you got to understand that you're not alone. You have that accountability. You have Dwayne, you have me, you have Jeff, you have Mandy, Alicia, you know, you have all these coaches that are right there, step for step, strive for stride with you, and that's your accountability. But, but furthermore, you got to have those APs, those accountability partners that you can shoot off a message, you can fire off a message right now and get a, get a response within an hour or so saying, hey, I'm really struggling. I need a hand. I'm really struggling. I need the light right now. So get those aps, get those, those accountability groups even, you know, the more people you have in your accountability group, the better. Because if it's just a one, One on one, one person loses that, that fire, guess what? The other person could be doused out pretty soon because, hey, I'm struggling. Yeah, me too. What's gonna happen? Let's take a day off. Not a big deal. Take a day off. But if you're not there for each other, holding your. To. Holding each other to a high stand standard folks, you're letting each other off the hook. Not just yourself, but them. And then right back, full swing. [00:11:19] Speaker A: Absolutely, man, Absolutely. Yeah. I have a, I have an AP group that I, I built over the years of E2M. It's pretty much consist of almost everybody that I've recruited while, you know, being a client. And then every now and again, I get someone to reach out, you know, looking for that. And I'm like, you know, I have this group, they all stars, you know, and I have, I have, I have stipulations for my group. Like, you can't be a wallflower. You have to respond every day. You have to post, you know, and shout out to, to those folks over there. And then actually this last four weeks, I took a challenge, man. I, I reached out, I made a post that, hey, I'm Looking for five men. Well, I said five guys. Somebody thought it was the hamburger, but anyway. [00:12:01] Speaker B: Right, right. [00:12:04] Speaker A: So I created a small accountability group with, with five guys, man, because you know, E2M and, and I'm gonna say this because Jeff always say E2M is mostly women. Right. But if you look at the stats, we're technically close, more even than not. But for the sake of as far as participation, it looks like it's, it's women dominant. But I said that to say, you know, that's why I reached out to the guys because I really, in this last couple of weeks and months, I've been thinking about, you know, the 40 plus guy, man. Like, you know, the, the men that are 40 plus that you know, need to take their health serious and, and you don't have to settle for, for the dad by man. So I got five guys, man, and those guys are on fire and they excited and they post. I got them one of, I have requirements for them. Like, you know, you're going to respond here, but you also got to post in a group. So they're posting in a group. You know, some of them never done that before. You know, so accountability group can be, I mean it is, it's definitely life changing. And, and one aspect, Brad, that, that about the accountability group, that, that, that I can honestly say having people rely on me like I'm like the leader, it holds me accountable. Like I, I can't. I want to show them a good example so that I always, you know, attest to my success with E2M is I had so many people looking towards me as an example and so that made me hold the line that much harder. [00:13:31] Speaker B: Yeah, man, just to speak to the fellas, you know, it's, it's a, it's a scary thing to put yourself out there and be vulnerable as a, as a male in, in our society saying, hey, I, I'm not happy, I'm not satisfied. I don't, I don't think I, I've achieved what I thought I was. I'd achieved by now. That's really tough for, for a male in today's society to do so. I'm really proud of you for making that group and showing other fellas that hey, it's all right to talk about where you are and maybe you're not. Not content with where you're. I think that's a really cool and admiral admirable thing. And just to speak to those fellas that are in their 40s, I think, I think this guy might be in his 50s, but Randy Moss, the goat, all right, he just, he just was diagnosed with cancer, man. And that's a scary thing to go through. And if you're walking the lonely road and you don't have those aps, you don't have, you know, somebody to lean on that, that, that road, it's, it's a pretty lonely one and it gets scary if you're by yourself. So, man, get those aps. Get those accountability groups set in place now. So when the storm comes, Boat's already built, baby. The boat is already built. [00:14:32] Speaker A: I like that. The boat. [00:14:34] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:14:34] Speaker A: Built. [00:14:37] Speaker B: Yes, sir. Might have to get that one. Step three is, is try, try something new. And this is something that, that I always encourage our clients to try. It's the cross training piece. You know, if you're a runner, don't just run every day. If you're a heavy weight lifter, don't just lift heavy weights every day. Like, try. Get out there and do something that's going to re. That reignite that flow flame and, and, and reignite some excitement. You know, I, every once in a while I'll switch my workouts up. You know, I do the E2M circuits a lot of times. Sometimes I go heavy weight, sometimes I just strictly run. Other times I do the CrossFit. I love CrossFit. That, like, that's my passion is cr. That CrossFit world, man. They're doing the high intensity, the road, the jumping up and down, all that, all that crazy stuff and it incorporates like all the, all the fitness, right? So every once in a while, throw in a crazy plan, throwing a crazy workout, that, that ties in with that, that ultimate goal. You know, when you're having a specific goal like you are or, or for me, with my Iron man, or any serious significant runs, run events, you have to dial in on your training. But if you're not training for anything, like, if you, if you're just doing this for health and fitness, man, throw in a crazy plan. Have some fun, man. Smile when you're out there. Enjoy it. [00:15:53] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. I just did some Zumba in a, in a bunny. A thousand calories. [00:15:59] Speaker B: I promise. [00:16:02] Speaker A: That was like doing it in a sauna suit. But no, like, that's, that's so true. B, man. And, and I'm, I'm, I'm actually looking forward to the time frame when I can do that, when I can, you know, just experiment, have fun, you know, because I, I really, you know, I've, I used to play basketball. You know, I used to, you know, I've never done CrossFit, man. That's, I might, I got bad joints, man. That's a lot of perking and jerking. [00:16:31] Speaker B: That's why I don't do it often. [00:16:33] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. I, I, you know, and you know, shout out to Jason, our videographer, and actually James too. James. They both love, they love CrossFit, man. So I might, I might try it out one day, you know, while I'm in town. They take me if they get a little guest pass or something. But, but no, I, I really like that and I think that, that, that's a great reminder for anybody on a fitness journey is, you know, the fun aspect. You know, find something. You know, pickleball is, is popular. You know, dude, it's warming up outside. You know, learn how to play pickleball or, you know, just anything, man. Throw the Frisbee. Frisbee golf, man, what, whatever. Like, don't be afraid to try something new. Switch it up, switch up your routine. Because if you're, if you're not, if you get into a place where, because everybody can't get into a place where it's like, I guess, boring. Like, you know, we, we always talk about, you know, it's okay to be boring, but to some people that tear their nerves up like, you know, and, and, and shout out to the each one premium folks. I think those folks, they get boring after seven days. They be looking for new workouts on Saturday. Like it's not out yet, but, but you know, if, if that's you, there's so many wonderful things that you can do to, to stay moving and stay healthy, man. So I'm really glad you brought up that point. [00:17:54] Speaker B: Yeah. You know, just to talk to pickleball, man, I, I smash me some pickleball. I love pickleball. Any rackets? No, dude, we got, we got to get a game going. You know, that's, that's another thing. You know, fellas, you know, you talk about being 40 something and you know, having the fear of putting yourself out there and being vulnerable. The guy, the guys out there, man, they're, they're, you know, they, they have a lot of nerves when it comes to trying new things because guys especially, they don't like to try new things and, and not be. I mean, we got egos. We got egos and, and our guy Eric, his business is called egoless Strength. And I think we gotta approach more things in our lives with less ego and, and just, just be willing and vulnerable to fail or come short, be defeated and overcome those things. And that actually ties into my, my fourth tip. Normally. Oh, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go. [00:18:49] Speaker A: It might tie in perfectly. Yeah, but, and I, and I know we're similar in this. A lot of times when you are the guy, you actually don't mind people seeing you fail. [00:19:00] Speaker B: Yep. [00:19:00] Speaker A: You don't mind them seeing that side and let them know that it's okay, you know, and no, not, not bragging, thinking I'm all. None of that. But, you know, I've grown up being the, the person, you know, that a lot of people look to. And same with you, because Jeff even said it like, you know, everybody know Brad, whatever. But when you're that guy, you don't mind the failure in front, like, because you just think about pickleball. Like, I never played. I go out there and, and, and suck at it, you know, and laugh the whole time and like, hey, man, I'm not good at it, you know, and it won't tear me down. To some people that, that's a, that's a harder struggle. So I just want to throw that out there, you know, that, that, that aspect. And I've always been like that. Like, I much rather you see me fail and then, you know, and that give you courage to do it than to me be in my feelings and, and be all upset because I can't do something. [00:19:51] Speaker B: Well, I, I've always said, and this is a social media, social media hot topic right now, you know, I'd rather reach a certain point in my life saying, yeah, I've tried pickleball and I failed. I've tried writing a book and I failed. I tried going to the NHL and failed versus the alternative. I never try. So there's always that what if factor. And I'm very transparent in my book. You know, I, I face my, my demons and darknesses in, in my 20s and, you know, I had a lot of negative influence in my, in my life. You know, one of those things was not pursuing my dreams and goals to play hockey at the next level. You know, one of those things was, you know, going certain places, doing certain things because I was influenced by certain people. And today, man, like you, like you're saying the fourth tip, I'll just, I'll just tie this right in. Exactly. What you're saying is normalize the slump. Have an expectation that, you know, when you try something new, you're not necessarily going to thrive at it. First day, like when I started writing that book, dude, I, I give me a second here. [00:20:58] Speaker A: You must be going to get the Original copy. [00:21:03] Speaker B: So I have, I. If you're watching this on the tube, if you're watching this on the, on a podcast platform, I encourage you to go check it out on YouTube. So people laugh at me and say, you know, he probably didn't start writing that with a red crayon and switch it out for a blue crayon. But here's the proof right here, boy. All right, so this is, this is the original transcript for my book. It's the intro, it's, it's chapter one, chapter two, and so on, so forth. And, and my son gave me a red crayon, swapped it out for the blue boy. And, you know, and, and then it's, it's just, it's a lot of scribbles. The reason that I'm talking about this is because, man, you want to talk about normalizing a slump. They say they call it the writer's block. That's a real thing. You'd start, I'd start writing and I'm like, man, clicking on all cylinders. The wheels are turning. Stop, silence. No idea what to write. I can't even spell the word. The. I'm like, you know, but you empower yourself and, and you just keep going, and then at some point it's all going to click back in just like fitness, right? You fail, you fail, you fail until you don't. [00:22:13] Speaker A: So my mind, man, people know, like, I, I have a, like a Rolodex of movies and cartoons and stuff. [00:22:20] Speaker B: I, I hope I know where you're going with this. [00:22:23] Speaker A: I don't know if you do. Let's see. But there's a spongebob episode where he's supposed to write his paper and he started writing. He was right, huh? Yeah. All right. He was writing and writing, writing, Right, right. Then it was done. It was like, duh. With a whole bunch of, like. [00:22:39] Speaker B: Yes, sir. I, I, I don't. The only reason I know that is because my kids watch spongebob. [00:22:45] Speaker A: Yeah, I was, I was a real time spongebob, man. It actually came out when I was in, in, in high school, going into college, man. So I was a fan. But yeah, the, that dude was writing. Yeah, okay. All right, all right. So good, brother. So good. [00:23:05] Speaker B: Yeah. So just to, just to talk to again, guys about the four points. Number one, revisit that, Revisit that goal, you know, whatever that primary goal is to get some accountability, get some family in your life, get some people that are going to hold you to a standard. Three, try new things, you know, don't be afraid to get out there and fail. And then four, that ties right into number three is normalize the slump. Normalize failing. Normalize getting knocked down. But only. Only to realize that those moments are learning lessons. Empower yourself to bounce back. Empower yourself to get back up. [00:23:36] Speaker A: That's the close, brother. [00:23:38] Speaker B: That's the close, baby. [00:23:40] Speaker A: All right, y'all. Hey, listen, still going on. We got two people so far. Give us some more, man. Five star review. Take a screenshot and send that email to bradager number two, run.com and we'll randomly select. And if there's not many to select from, that'll be you. We'll hook you up with some stuff. Might be a book, might be, I don't know. We just never know. So leave us a five star review and we appreciate y'all, man. So, Brad, let's get out of here, brother. Anything else? [00:24:13] Speaker B: Hey, just, you know, just to tie into that. We will draw at the end of this month. At the end of April, we'll make the drawing. So anybody that submits that five star review and sends me a screenshot by the end of April, I'll send you some goodies. [00:24:26] Speaker A: Sounds good, man. All right, y'all, we out of here.
